Citadines hotels are great. This one in Kyoto is up there with the best, great staff, helpful and friendly. The room was excellent and had all the little extra's. Breakfast was good as well. Situated in a good part of the City for most things.

This apartment was convenient and difficult to fault. Good: Very close to the Gojo station (Karasuma line) which was handy, clean, modern, efficient helpful service, reasonably priced, cool entrance/lobby area, small kitchenette for simple food preparation, 500 yen breakfast Disadvantage: Theonly thing is that there isn't much to see or do in the immediate vicinity of the apartment. However since...

Thank you citadines for a great stay. In particular thank you Akari, you were absolutely the best host one could hope for when staying abroad. Genuinely friendly and always wanting to help, not just willing. We have stayed all around the world in absolute luxury and in value for money places. We booked citadines as a value for money place...

Good location, good prices, in a way typical of Japan, even by no means "traditional" (let alone charming!). Very good shower, modest breakfasts, rather on the "quantitative" side. The right choice for one or two nights, maybe rooms are too small for longer stays. I would probably go for a Ryokan next time.

We stayed in this clean and comfortable apartment hotel. The rooms were not that big, but everything is well planned so the space is well utilised. The room and the area are quiet and bed is comfortable. It is close by to a metro station, so it is easy to explore Kyoto from here. The staff was friendly. The hotel...

Excellent hotel in the centre of Kyoto. Subway station right outside although we walked to Kyoto train station most days to catch trains to other areas. Only a 15 minute walk to Kyoto station. This place is ideal for exploring Kyoto and farther afield. We had 2 rooms for 2 parents and 2 kids. i would not attempt to house...

Service staff were excellent and what you expect of Japanese. They can speak english as well so it was really easy to communicate with. The room were neat and tidy. I got a room that face the back of the hotel so not much of scenery. The other side should be facing the main room. There are food in the...

Stayed here for a week. In short, excellent apartment room, very clean and spacious. Very comfortable and nice place to be after long tiring day. Made use of kitchen facilities which is nice when you are on trip for a week. Only thing I would mention is location wise you need to take subway to most places which I do...

In fact it has been 3-4 years after our honeymoon trip to Kyoto and Osaka. We missed this apartment hotel so much. Both of us loved the hotel. It is nice, clean and convenient located with couple of restaurants around. The rate is affordable as well.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
