Perfect location, best helpful and friendly staff, clean and well appointed - everything you would want and need! We had a private room and we were very impressed of how everything was put together. It may be small for other country's standards but it was perfect for us.

Just like what other reviews stated, this is a really excellent accommodation and I will certainly recommend it to others. My experience there is fairly the same as what other reviewers had shared. It was awesome! Although it's a walking distance from the train station, I think it is considered relatively far, and not really easy locate it. I did...

It is walking distance to Kyoto Station although I had trouble finding it at first (I took the wrong exit). I arrived earlier than the check-in time but I was lucky that my capsule was already cleaned when I arrived so I was able to check in immediately. My tatami capsule is comfortable, I'm just bothered with the sound of...

We arrived about 10am and there was a vacant room, the staff immediately changed our pre-allocated room, checked us in, briefed us on the nearby restaurants, bus routes, brought us to the room, demonstrated the use of the shower and the free items that are available to rent. Super awesome! The Capsule Ryokan Kyoto is really amazing. The room size...

My husband and I stayed in the twin ryokan room and it was a great stay! The room was great, clean and comfortable. The staff was really nice and very helpful! Gave us a map that we would have been lost without. It was also raining the day we were heading out to explore and they had umbrellas that we...

I stayed in the dorm style capsules for 3 nights and had a great stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful and they give you a binder full of useful tips on what to see, do and eat. The capsule itself was clean and cosy and the toilets and showers were also very clean. They do give you earplugs if...

We were only here one night, but the twin ryokan room had everything we needed and then some! The shower and washroom amenities were the most impressive, the room was clean, comfortable and cosy. It was also easy to walk to Kyoto Station from the hotel, although the public bus was also an option.

This capsule is very nice and clean, would definitely recommend this to everyone. The staff were also really great. They also have nice little tip sheets and maps that tells you how to get around to all the main attractions and some good cheap eats around the capsule. We stayed here for 2 nights and found that it was good...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
