We really enjoyed our stay here! Spent 4 nights in a Deluxe King room. The hotel is located in a great area-lots of restaurants, shopping, and station nearby. The room was clean with a comfortable bed. Coffee and tea station located in the lobby. Self check-in/check-out kiosks.

Hotel's Favourite
This hotel exceeded our expectations. We had never been to Kyoto before and selected the Cross Hotel based on the good reviews and location. Although the hotel was celebrating its 5th birthday, you would never have known as it appeared brand new. The design and decor is extremely tasteful, the rooms while not overly large are well laid out, very clean, and have a comfortable bed, and the breakfast has many western and Asian choices. The hotel’s location is superb, being close to a large variety of restaurants, bars, and shops. Sanjo Meiten shopping arcade is minutes away and from there you can easily reach Nishiki Market, a short stroll away. The hotel staff deserve a special mention as they were always keen to help you navigate the way to Kyoto’s various temples, gardens and other places of interest. Extra thanks to Shiori Horio who was exceptionally pleasant and helpful when I needed to book a bus trip, and also gave me a great perspective on where the hotel is located with respect to the many Kyoto landmarks. We would definitely stay at the Cross Hotel again if we were fortunate enough to return to Kyoto.

We had a really great experience at the Cross Hotel, but that may have been because we stayed in the one premier suite, which is really a large, very nicely appointed bed plus sitting area corner room (with sauna!). We got the equivalent of a luxury suite for half or a third the cost at the Four Seasons or the like. Less deference and surrounding luxury, of course, but that is fine with us. I don’t think we would have enjoyed it all that much in one of the regular rooms, and would look elsewhere for a regular room. Guest services were decent. We had a few requests that were handled well, but for the most part we were on our own. The system for requesting cleaning/linen service was efficient. We had laundry done and service was good. The common area of the hotel is very visually appealing, modern and makes you feel like you’re in a more upscale place than you actually are. The hotel is very central, so it’s easy to get around Kyoto, but the neighborhood is congested and lacking charm, more of a typical Japanese city center vibe. There was some street noise, in the form of shouting revelers, which went on until 4:30 am every night (peak Sakura season). If you are noise sensitive you might not want a room on the river side. Beds and bath area were great. Breakfast was pretty bad, the worst of our stay. Limited choices, not well prepared, and long lines for coffee. Since you are in the city center, it might be better to eat out, there is a Starbucks around the corner if you want the predictable, and local options nearby.

Loved this hotel's location and design. Although the rooms are pretty small, the usage of space was well-thought-out. The restaurant's breakfast buffet was ok. It was really crowded and had 2 automatic coffee machines which always had a long queue. Additionally, I was not impressed with the food selection. For our second morning, we ventured out and had some lovely souffle pancakes at a cafe within walking distance. Aside from the restaurant, I highly recommend the Cross Hotel for the location and price.

we originally booked the hotel in 2019 for a trip in 2020 but Covid put an en to that. so we re-booked the same hotel due to its location near subway, shrines, restaurants and shopping areas. The Hotel is modern, easy to find via google maps. Staff are friendly, toiletries available near the lifts. Rooms are well appointed though not large. The only issue we had was we placed the sign on our door three days in a row to get our room cleaned and it was ignored, even when the girls were cleaning the room next door.

We stayed at 4 hotels during our trip to Japan and this one was our favourite. The location is perfect (not sure why people can’t find the entrance in other reviews, it’s a side road but a lovely entrance). Lots to eat and drink nearby, shopping and supermarkets around. The hotel room was amazing, spacious bathroom with a wet room, and a separate toilet. Spacious room. Toiletries available. When the room was cleaned they saw we’d bought bath salts and left us some extra salts which was a nice touch. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. There’s no coin operated laundry but if you go out the hotel and down the alley directly infront there is a laundrette on the left - 5 washers and 8 driers, a waiting area and vending machines. This was more convenient than the laundry at other hotels we stayed in as they were always busier and often didn’t have separate tumble dryers so took much longer to dry. Would definitely recommend and will be staying here for our next visit!

Thank you for choosing to stay with Cross Hotel Kyoto and for sharing your generous praise on many aspects of your stay with us including our friendly staff, separated spacious bathroom and convenient location. We always strive to deliver the best experience for our guests so it is such a pleasure to hear that we were able to meet your expectations and that you would recommend us to future travelers. Regarding the laundry facility, since we do not have a coin laundry facility at the hotel, we provide guidance to a coin laundry that is a 3-minute walk away. We apologize for any inconveniences this has caused, but we are relieved to hear that it worked well for you. Thank you again for taking the time to leave us your fantastic review. We are looking forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to our hotel soon. Warm regards, Cross Hotel Kyoto

Modern hotel in excellent condition - nice lobby area to sit in and relax, with complimentary coffee and green tea. Nice bedrooms, with excellent shower. Very friendly and helpful staff. Superb location too, with Pontocho Alley literally on your doorstep (lots of restaurants and bars). Easy walking distance of Nishiki Market, and only about 20 minutes door to door by subway to/from Tokyo station. Not sure why the Cross Hotel is not officially a four star hotel (at least it’s not on hotels.com), but it very much looks and feels like one.

Thank you very much for choosing Cross Hotel Kyoto from among so many hotels and for giving us a perfect score! We appreciate your feedback and are delighted that you had a positive experience with us. The lobby you mentioned is a chic reinterpretation of a traditional Kyoto machiya, and the lounge next to the lobby is a space reminiscent of "奥座敷" in Kyoto. We are delighted to hear that you were enjoying a relaxing time with free coffee and green tea. Thank you again, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future. Warm regards, Cross Hotel Kyoto

My whole clan with 29 members stayed at Cross hotel Kyoto from Feb 23-28 to attend my nephew’s Wedding. We loved our stay at this well located gem of a hotel. Its right in the Middle of all the places you want to go to in Kyoto. Walking distance to Nishiki market, Teramachi, Don Quixote, Takashimaya and many restaurants too. Our room was clean and well appointed and had a unique bath that was onsen inspired. Above All , We were impressed with the staff at the front desk. They spoke very good English and were very helpful in getting us a taxi whenever we needed one. Special thanks to E. Kawasaki who went above and beyond to look for a hair salon that would accept English speaking tourists. He made an appointment for us and even printed a map for our guidance. Also very helpful were Haruna Asakura & Haruko Yasui who processed the pick up of our luggage for delivery to our next hotel destination in Osaka. Wonderful experience in this hotel. Will definitely return!
