Resol trinity is an excellent hotel housing a relaxing onsen. I stayed here for four nights exploring temples all around the city and the location was reasonably good though not absolutely optimal: there is a subway station one block away, the northern end of Nishiki market area is close at hand too, although not that many buses drive nearby. There is a convenience store next to the subway station, but I recommend a small supermarket Fresco Oike with much wider variety of goods and better prices just a couple of blocks west. Thanks to a campaign price I got my stay around 100€/night and was really happy with the deal.

The key card gives guests access to hotel corridors separated from lobby by automatic sliding doors. There is a hint of luxury in this practice and the mild, pleasant scent of the inner area. The room had tatami floors, traditional paper shutters in windows and a nice bathroom. Matcha tea was complimentary with a real bamboo whip to mix it. From lobby one could get a yukata for a comfortable stroll down to the public bath area. The onsen was not large but comfortable with all the appropriate amenities at hand. I usually did not visit it until after midnight and was most often the only guest there.

I really enjoyed my time in this hotel and would be glad to stay there again some day!

We stayed 3 nights and personally like this hotel the most from our trip. The room has a surprising amount of room that isn't typical to Japan. There's a wooden floor area to take your shoes off, and two pairs of slippers are provided . There's an onsite Sento, with a men and women's side. The water can get pretty hot and is a relief after walking around Kyoto. It's within close distance of Teramachi-dori which was our favorite place to be at night, eating food ,and checking out the stores in this covered mall like walkway. You're also in close distance to the subways, and to 7-11's to pull cash out (Japan is still a very cash based society.)

The breakfast is great as well. Try the Japanese portion of breakfast, it's filling, healthy and veggie packed. You will have to pay extra for the breakfast but it's well worth it.

Altogether and excellent stay, and was our favorite place to be.

After staying in a well known hotel chain in Tokyo, we opted for something more traditional and representative of Japan in Kyoto. Resol did not disappoint. Check in and check out were seamless. The rooms were small, typical Japanese but thoughtfully designed and provided everything we needed including some nice amenities. Grateful for the on premise onsen experience. We also enjoyed the restaurant both for its ambiance and cuisine. Friday nights offered jazz music an added bonus. The hotel is centrally located, cushioned in a side street away from the noise of the main avenue but accessible to the market, shops and metro line

We needed a few days from Osaka and reserved two nights at this hotel because it had a room with a king sized bed, buffet breakfast and was in a convenient location. There is also a bath on the first floor that can be used but we did not use it. There were outfits in the room to be worn when going to the bath.

The room was fine and quiet. The bathroom was more spacious than typical ones.

The breakfast was good and had a combination of Japanese and Western food.

We had hamburgers for lunch at the restaurant and also dinner another night. They had poutine pizza but we did not try it. We tried the Salty Lemon and Grilled Vegetables and Meat Platter. Both were delicious.

The hotel is very well situated, in a small street near Gion (about 10min walking). As I was meeting my friends living near Gion the location was perfect for me.
The lobby and room decoration are really good. A very nice and new boutique hotel!

My room was ready when I came in a 13:30 and they let me have it for no extra charge. Thank you! I was ready to wait but it was nice to see the room and change clothes before going on my trip.
Mind that if you booked the hotel for 1 person only one person can go up to the room as per hotel policy. My friend checked-in with me and was kindly asked to wait in the lobby while I went upstairs.

The room is just as shown in pictures! It does look a little small but it was enough for me, and it was actually a regular-sized room! I had enough space to open up my luggage.

They also have a regular sauna on 1st floor (no exceptional view or size but you always enjoy a good bath) that I used yesterday.

The breakfast this morning was really good. I don't know what eggs they use but the scrambled eggs were soooo good!

I am now ready to check-out :) did not have any special request for the reception officers but yesterday I was checked in by an officer who could speak english/japanese and another one korean.

Hotel Resol Trinity Kyoto is amazing hotel located in Kyoto, if you go from Osaka leave the railway pass the river and walk 10 minutes which in Kyoto city centre. You will impressed with onsen in the hotel. Check in front desk staffs are helpful and friendly. Very good breakfast just J$16.50. This clean cozy hotel opposite to indoor shopping area, Nishiki market and Gion.

We loved this hotel. It was spacious compared to the 5-star hotel we stayed at in Tokyo…plenty of room for 2 people. I liked that the wet room/bath/shower was separate from the toilet area. The room was quiet. We liked the Japanese feel of this hotel—the living area had tatami mats and low furniture. There are also sliding screens on the windows. So you get western-style amenities with a distinctly Japanese feel to the room. We really appreciated the laundry facility and used it for a load. I can’t comment on the breakfast or dinner because we didn’t partake (7-11 and Family Mart for breakfast!!) but we had nice drinks one late evening. The location was pretty good because you could easily get to both of the subway lines that then connect to all of the other train lines. The walk to Gion was about 20 minutes. The hotel also had an umbrella rack so you could borrow one as needed (we did). When we return to Japan, we will consider staying here again or another Hotel Resol location if available.

I can’t believe that I’m typing this review whilst still in the hotel! Room is more than what I can ask for. Very Japanese inspired. Slippers provided for you to use as you go in to the bedroom. There’s a small lounge just below the bed where you can eat whilst watching the telly. The bathroom is just big enough for my Asian frame and has all the amenities you need. They provided a garment for you to use if you decide to use the public bath but decided not to as I’m not prepared to dip in with other guest, naked in the pool. So the garment was just used as my pyjama so packed lightly as you got everything you need here provided by the hotel.
The hotel is very central to most tourist attractions. I’m surprised that I managed to go to Gion and Kiyomizu-dera on foot! That’s how close it is. The rest are close and easy commute to other attractions. There’s a 7/11 shop just a stone throw away from the hotel too which is a big bonus not to mention the close proximity of the place to Nishiki market.
Over all, I’m impressed with the service and the warm presence of the staff working at the hotel. Their ability to speak is very good which is a plus to me. They always are so polite and cheerful. Always there to assist you. They are truly the heart and soul of the business.
I highly recommend this hotel. Will come back here again. ❤️

While quite modern, the hotel has a very Japanese feel because of the style of the rooms. Breakfast was buffet style & had a lot of Asian choices. The onsen was also great. Hotel is also walking distance to Gion & the city center. Very well situated to everything. It was also conveniently close to a Catholic church (10 min walk) because we were in Kyoto on a Sunday, so it was very good for us when we needed to go to Mass early morning. Highly recommended!

Warning! Potentially racist and/or discriminatory receptionist! After my wife and I couldn’t get an extra room at our hotel for our 18 year old daughter we decided to get her a room at this hotel since it was within walking distance from ours.. After we checked her in we just wanted to help her unpack and settle into her new room since she is only 18 and we were feeling bad that we couldn’t have her stay in the same hotel as us. As soon as we tried to make our way to the elevators (my wife, myself, our baby in a stroller, and our 18 yo daughter) the receptionist aggressively started questioning how many people would be sleeping in the room as if we were some sort of illegal immigrants trying to sneak into a room with a single bed and not pay for an extra room! We explained that we were just going to accompany our daughter to make sure she settles in ok and were met with even more questioning and reluctance to let us go, so my wife and daughter went by themselves while I waited with the baby in the lobby.. next day we walked my daughter back to the hotel in the evening and once more we were met with the same type of aggressive questioning (by Mr H. Nagura) after my wife wanted to go up to my daughter’s room with her to simply pick up some clothes! We witnessed other guests going in and out freely without being questioned!!! We do not know why they decided to question us rather than them but we are originally from Mexico and our skin tone happens to be darker than most people in Japan so that could be why..
Also, check out the beautiful view my daughter had to wake up to every morning while staying there..

Response from ホテルリソルトリニティ京都 御池麩屋町, 支配人 at Hotel Resol Trinity Kyoto
Responded 18 Dec 2023
Thank you for staying at Hotel Resol Trinity Kyoto. We would also like to thank you again for your valuable feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by our staff. However, being called a "racist" on internet is a very serious issue that affects the credibility of our hotel group, so we apologize for the inconvenience, but we would like to clear up any misunderstandings. Please let us explain the process. You pointed out that ``I witnessed other guests coming and going freely without being asked any questions.'' This is consistent with the number of guests known to the hotel. They are free to come and go as they pleases. On the other hand, as in this case, when the number of guests exceeds the number of guests known to the hotel, we will ask all the guest going in, of course including Japanese guests. This is by no means "racism" and is a normal hotel checking procedures. Although we are confident that our hotel staff are not racist, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to our guests due to the lack of communication skills and experience.

It would be best to contact the hotel directly and ask them but I got the impression that the strict taboo I'd heard about on tattoos was not that strict! If they are small you could always cover them with plasters!
