My 3 kids and I stayed at 22 Pieces for 1 week over the New Year holidays and we loved the hotel! Due to it being the busy New Year period we had to split our stay between a "loft room" and also "room with living room" as we booked late, both rooms were wonderful and suited our needs perfectly. The front desk staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful with great suggestions. The location is wonderful, very close to Kyoto station but in a quiet area only a short walk to the Aeon mall around the corner for supermarket supplies, restaurants and lots of shops, plus easy access to lots of transport with the station so close. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were sparkling clean. The room size was terrific as well, plenty of space for us to be able to spread out and be comfortable. The little kitchen was very handy to have as well. It's only a small hotel and has a great boutique type feel to it, we'd definitely love to go back again.

This hotel is truly amazing! The room is pretty big compared to other hotels in Kyoto.

It is located in a quiet residential area near Kyoto Station!

I stayed in the “Studio with living room” type of room, a 34 m² room with balcony. 😍

The room is equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster and a microwave! It’s so convenient 👏

Cooking utensils such as frying pans, pots, and kitchen knives are also provided in the guest rooms.

The unique feature of this hotel is that you can rent plenty of items, so I tried a few..

Such as Coffee mill (with coffee beans) + coffee maker, that is very fun to make and the coffe is delicious 😋

I also borrowed a Projector and a Galaxy Light Projector. It felt like a movie theatre👏

Lastly, I was also able to try the Dyson Airwrap!! 😍

I had such a great time here ✨

Located walking distance to Kyoto Station. Used our Sushi Wi-Fi portable wifi and worked well so we could use google maps to get around. Near major shopping mall with grocery store and food court hotel clean, modern and spacious. New construction. Would recommend highly.

22 Pieces is an intimate and sophisticated boutique hotel, just a short walk from Kyoto station. The room was comfy and modern design. The shower/bathroom area was fantastic. Loved that we had a kitchenette. Very quite area and weren't aware of other guests except when you went down to the foyer area. Staff very friendly and inviting. The only downside was not washing machine in the room or on the premises. However, there is a laundry mat just around the corner so that worked out ok.

This is a very beautiful hotel in a quiet neighborhood, not too far from Kyoto Station, so it was the perfect place for our family. They have great staff that speak English perfectly and helped us a lot when we checked in. The rooms are very stylish and comfortable, with plenty of room. It has a nice kitchen area and a good sized bathroom. We would highly recommend staying here!

This is our favorite hotel of all our stays in Japan. Modern, clean design, yet practical and spacious room, making our stay very comfortable.

Just five minutes walk to the station but on the quiet residential side. Accessible to transportation to all sights from the station and yet in a peaceful surround. Easy stroll to convenience store, laundry and local restaurants.

Excellent value! Highly recommend.

We stayed in 22 Pieces Kyoto December 2017. Firstly it was for four days and then we flew to Okinawa for two days then came back to 22 Pieces for another four days. They kept our luggage in a store room while away. We traveled with backpacks to Okinawa.
Anyway 22 Pieces is only a short walk from Kyoto station. About four or five minutes, counting the wait at the traffic lights.
Right opposite, 22 Pieces, is public baths if you want to experience that sort of thing.

22 Pieces is Brand new. We had a three bed, unit, which I think could be made into four beds. Lovely shower, bath toilet with bidet and basin facility. With a flash Dyson hair dryer.
A table and four chairs. TV, which we watched a movie (Spideman)in English by pressing a certain button on the remote.
Cooking facility with all the gear one needs. Small fridge.
A place to hang clothes ETC.
There is a washing machine come dryer on the ground floor.

But we chose to use the laundromat about fifty metres away in the street behind 22 Pieces.
Aeon shopping mall is two streets away. Plenty of places to eat there and else where.
Also there is a great supermarket in Aeon. Where you can buy Benton boxed food at cheap prices.

We walked to the temple that is not too far away. Can't think of the name. But, the other side of the station there is the bus exchange where you can catch a 100 bus route to the temples and 101 to temples on that route.
Buy an all day bus pass for 600 yen. You will get your money back after two rides

22 Pieces
I don't know if there is such a rating, but I would give it 5 stars.

We booked 2 rooms. A Loft room (2 Queen & 2 single beds) and a room with Dining (3 single beds). We were very very pleased with the rooms. Both rooms are spacious with big bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. The hotel is near to Aeon mall and about 5mins walk to Kyoto main station. Staff are all very nice, helpful with ready smile on their face. I would like to compliment a Taiwanese staff there who is really helpful during our stay. Highly recommended to stay in this hotel if you need big rooms cause it is not easy to get such spacious rooms in Japan.

My family of 4 just returned from a 5 nights’ stay at 22 pieces, Kyoto. Newly opened last December, I managed to secure booking of a 3 bedded room with dining area. The sitting area by the window can be turned into a bedded area at night.
What we liked about the room - clean, new, convenient amenities. Travelling with children, the microwave, crockery and cutlery provided were really helpful. Compared to a hotel, the room was comfortably spacious for all 4 of us, and that includes the bathroom which comes with the Dyson hairdryer. We didn’t mind that we had to make our own bed daily as the cleaners only clear the trash and change the towels. We also liked that the location was just 5 minutes away from Kyoto Station and Aeon Mall, which houses a food court and supermarket, amongst other restaurants and shops. The bus terminal is also an easy walk through the train station. We travelled easily to visit all the Temples far and near, and went to Osaka as well for a day trip. The apartment building may be a little hard to locate at first, but just follow the map and instructions and we got to it eventually after missing it by one block. Although the streets were relatively quiet around the apartment, never once did we feel that we were in any form of danger as there were always people walking about, mainly office workers and nearby residents. It is also a wonder that in all my 5 days there, I saw many people at the lobby but never heard any sounds coming from nearby rooms, with the hotel at full capacity. At around $150 a night, this place is really good value for money well-paid. I’ll recommend this place to anyone planning to stay in Kyoto city.

We stayed 2 nights at 1 of the room with dining during our vacation to Kyoto.
The room is spacious for the 4 of us and has a kitchen so we can cook.
The staffs are also helpfull and friendly.
One downside was that the noise that coming from the ceiling that we heard when we sleep. Maybe its the plumbing from upstair’s bath room (we dont know 😊). Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and definitely will come back if we visit kyoto again.

The rooms that have kitchens, do have pot, pans and utensils. You can also ask the front desk if you need something that is not available in the room. They are very accommodating.

Sorry we didn't stay long enough to need to do laundry so we have no personal experience of it. The hotel does not have its own laundry room. I've seen other comments that there are coin laundry services very near and walkable, but I can't say personally which these are and where. Hope you enjoy your stay!
