This beautifully situated small inn is the perfect place to stay in Kyoto near Maruyama Park and the Gion District. The inn is on the eastern (mountain) side of Maruyama Park and feels like a warm, traditional Japanese house. It is easy to take the 100 or 110 bus from Kyoto station to Maruyama Park on the eastern edge of... More

Yoshimizu is a small bed and breakfast establishment located in the Maruyama park, ca 1K from the main gate of the Yasaka shrine and the streets of Gion. It is a bit hidden in the park. It is very basic and simple, no luxury. The building is old and in a quite poor condition. Many reviews were praising the quietness... More

Another lovely Inn on our trip, rooms as usual basic but comfy, Onsen suitable for one person at a time or v close couple. Food for breakfast a bit eccentric but fine. Location ideal for visiting Kyoto, set in a park so once found easy to find again( take a taxi to get there on first arrival). Staff are excellent... More

Great stay in this ryokan amid nature without the need to leave Kyoto City. Its located in the woods at the top of Maruyama-koen Park. You are surrounded by maple and bamboo trees so you are truly in nature. Rooms are traditional in that you sleep on the floor on futons that you need to make up so be prepared... More

We had wonderful stay at Kyoto Yoshimizu. The staff were lovely - very welcoming and helpful. When they discovered I liked tea, they made sure a jug of hot water and a pot of tea was in our room each evening when we returned. The property was everything we wanted in a traditional Japanese inn, with the very welcome addition... More

Yoshimizu is situated in the beautiful Maruyama Park in Kyoto. It feels like you live in the forest, close to nature. The rooms are traditional with futon beds and tatami mats, and very clean. Breakfast is also great, with vegetable soup, eggs and toast. Every night the Japanese bath is heated for you. The staff are very friendly, so staying... More

When we first saw the pictures of this place, we knew we had to stay there. Now, after we have been there, this place has surpassed all our expectations. After an adventurous journey through this beautiful park in the pouring rain, we were greeted in a most welcome way. Our room was an island of tranquility and the hot japanese... More

We came as a family of 3, and stayed a week in this lovely Ryokan. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, making sure we'd have a taxi waiting for us at 5:00 am, right in front of the Ryokan, in order for us to catch our train to Osaka on time. Our traditional room was facing... More

Visited Kyoto during the spring peak-season. Reservations were made via email almost 6 months in advanced. Information provided upfront included details on how to get to the ryokan and bicycle rentals, which were helpful upon arrival to the city. The experience as a guest of this humble ryokan was truly memorable. Everything from its traditional rooms, common spaces to surroundings... More

Yoshimizu is an traditional Japanese style accommodation that would only suit those willing to try the tatami floor with futon. Do not expect luxury. It is well located in the hill over looking gion quarter but is a steep walk to get down to Kyoto. If you are ok with traditional Japanese then this is a place you will like.
