Three adult family members spent three nights at Kamuroan. We all appreciated the great location, lovely, traditional tatami room, the kind and caring innkeepers who not only made special Christmas dinner reservations before we arrived, but were always available to give directions, help us understand the culture and recommend activities. Kamuroan has just three guest rooms, and you will feel...

We count Sumiko and her husband as our family in Japan, having stayed at Kamuroan in spring 2015 and summer 2016. They helped us gladly with many difficult problems, e.g. finding a guide/translator for a private visit to Nijo Jinya, helpng out when one of us was sick, etc. Sumiko adapts her breakfasts to your needs, but within a Japanese...

Took a while for us to find the place but it's all worthwhile. Our stay was excellent, could not fault it. It was really good to experience to stay in a typical Japanese house. The hosts were very nice, helpful and very polite. They made us feel at home. An excellent place to stay if you want to enjoy your...

Our hosts were so welcoming, I wanted to hug them goodbye when we left. The facilities are fantastic and the location was perfect. I would defiantly recommend this home and would stay there again in the future.

We spent 4 amazing days at Kamuroan ! The owners are VERY friendly and provide a fantastic service to all the customers. We slept in a freshly renovated room upstairs. My dad and I stayed here for two nights in August. The room was very spacious, and while the toilet and washing facilities were along the corridor, we had a basin in the room. Everything was beautifully clean and the shower/ bath facilities were good. There is fast wifi available. Our hostess was extremely welcoming. I really enjoyed having the...

My wife and I stayed at Kamuroan on the basis of the superlative reviews in Trip Advisor. Overall, our stay was very good, primarily because of the overwhelming warmth, hospitality, charm and helpfulness of the co-owner hostess, Sumiko-san. Anyone who stays here must be charmed by this genial woman. There are many other things that make Kamuroan a very good...

Staying here was a wonderful experience. It was our first trip to Japan, our first time in traditional-style accommodation, and we would jump at the chance to stay here again. Booking online was very easy and we received directions via email on how to get to Kamuro-an. Our hostess was kind and welcoming each day, and a good source of...

A great combination of tradition with a little bit of western comfort. Our tatami room was very spacious and beautiful. The futons on the floor were surprisingly comfortable. The shared bathroom was never an issue, everything was well organised and spotlessly clean. The best things? Sumiko - our delightful hostess and her incredible breakfasts. One day we had 15 different...

Location: close to Kiyomizu temple so that you can visit there early in the morning when not sso crowded. Hospitality: For foreign visitors to Japan, Kamuro-an offer a real Japanese tatami mat room, and real life for our customs. Okami san(owner lady) is a real courteous Japanese kimono-clad woman...

“The garden view (the one thats more expensive) is downstairs, its closer to the bathroom and common room. The garden is very small so not much view you can see. It maybe noisy sometimes when the owner is preparing the breakfast and theres someone upstair walking.”
