You can experience an old fashioned ryokan for quite fair price compared to other fancy ryokans. The room was quite nice and spacious and clean. The staff were very nice and there was always hot water with teabags and some sweets in our room. There is wifi at the reception and close to the reception. Unfortunately there was a group...

Friendly staff who work hard, but the shared bathing facilities are very off putting for non- Japanese. We timed our showers for mid-afternoon when no one else seemed around to avoid being seen naked by other guests. The women's' toilets were smelly we could hear the other guests shouting and laughing late at night then from 5.39am. This drove us...

A good located ryokan, 10 minutes walking from the main train station. Room didn´t have private bathroom, and as it was located on the ground floor, it was a bit noisy because shared showers and toilets were nearby. A disadvantage was that showers had a closing time of 9pm and it wasn´t available any wireless connection in the property. Comparing...

Stayed one night here and it was very good. We had included in our stay traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. Food was really good and varied. The staff are excellent and even drove us to the train station when we left as we were struggling with luggage in the rain. The bathroom and toilets are shared between guests but we...

If you are not fuzzy about having your own bathroom and want a traditional, Japanese ryokan (traditional guest house) in a central location, then this is a great option. We found the place spotlessly clean and with Japanese standards of hygiene you have one set of slippers for your room and one for the bathroom... Takigawa is a short walk...

Booking on short notice during cherry blossom season, we came across this property in search for a budget ryokan and lived up to expectations. It provided a glimpse into traditional Japanese lodging, from the Japanese-style toilets to the public baths used for showering. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, even offering us the option of using their laundry. Curfew...

A room that dirty and old, without toilet should never cost 10,000 JPY, especially without breakfast. My room was not very clean, very run-down, which I did not expect. It did not have the toilet, which I knew and expected, but it is did not have even wash basin. Bedding and towels were crisp, but old tatami was not. Airconditioner...

This Ryokan is located centrally in Kyoto just a short walk back to the Kyoto JR station. Its a little tricky to find in a back street so ask for directions. Rooms are very traditional and authentic. Futons are a little thin but other than that its clean and friendly. The baths are excellent and a must after a long...

If you are looking for a cheap but authentic Japanese Guest house in Kyoto look no further. 10 minutes from the main station. The room was so lovely & spotlessly clean. The addition of kimonos and tea sets made for a great photo shoot. Excellent facilities, free toiletries & hair dryer etc. The traditional Japanese baths are a big daunting...

Beautiful traditional Japanese ryokan, with full confort (hair drier, soap, shampoo, yukata, slippers, and free laundry!) in central Kyoto (5 minute walk off Kyoto central train station). The lady owner, even if not speaking English, is extremely helpful and caring. Available to guests a marvellous Japanese-style hot bath for relaxing evening. If wishing to stay at a nice and very...
