Location is very convenient to shopping and upscale dining. The nearest subway is about a 10 minute walk away. You can reach Nishiki market in 5 minutes. Breakfast is traditional Japanese style and quite nice. Now, the ugly. The minute you enter the lobby it smells of smoke. So do the hallways. The rooms are outdated and need renovation. Wallpaper... Stayed for the first two nights on our first trip to Japan. Hotel Uojien is in a magnificent place for those who seek shopping, dining,clubbing. It is in the heart of Kyoto city with very friendly,helping and sincere staff.The only disadvantage is that some rooms have small and seperated bathroom (bathroom and toilet are in different places inside the room).
