It's really near Nishiki Market and Starbucks! There are a lot of shopping districts near this hotel. The lobby is very bright and clean. The room is clean and spacious with complete amenities. When they make up the room, everything is fresh and new like the towels and toothbrush. It is a wonderful experience to sleep in a traditional Japanese...

We stayed three nights here and enjoyed every minute of our visit. The rooms are very well presented in traditional style, the staff are very helpful and friendly and the property is ideally located for all of Kyoto's wonderful attractions. The Nishiki market is 2 minutes walk away from the hotel reception, there are numerous bars and restaurants and the...

Stayed here for three nights with family. The tatami rooms are great for small children as they can roam around and play. Everything is nice and clean. Rooms come equipped with shower room, toiled and small sink. TV, and a balcony with safe and refrigerator as well as water boiler are available as well. The staff is very friendly and...

Everyone in our family LOVED our stay at this authentic and well kept inn. First of all, the staff was friendly and wonderful. While their English was limited, they really took care of us. The futons were “magically” folded and put out every morning and night. We ordered the breakfast from them, which was the one of the highlights of...

Kinparo was a pleasant surprise in Kyoto. It's a few steps away from the main shopping street of Shijo dori, walking distance from the glittering nightlife of Pontocho alley, and located at the mouth of the Nishii market. The location is unbeatable. We feared that the six-tatami-mat rooms would be tiny, but were pleasantly surprised to find a small apartment...

Our family of four stayed at Kinparo in a family room during July and had a great time. On arrival we were welcomed like family with doors opened for us and much bowing and we were seated in the lobby and handed fresh hot towels to refresh us after our trip, which was a really nice touch. The hotel is...

Staying in Shinkyogoku Shopping District

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes. Trends-in-the-making can be spotted in the tall windows of several one-of-a-kind stores featuring local labels and modish boutiques. Arcades, outdoor concert spaces, mega department stores, and small, enchanting cafes have sprung up to accommodate the increasing traffic. Whether looking for souvenirs and kitsch on Shinkyogoku Street, or scoping out the massive food court and restaurant floor at Takashimaya Department store, there's something for every wallet or purse, and a buyer for every item.
