A few minutes walk from the Hiroshima station. Quick check-in, with helpful staff. Rooms are dark, equipped with all comforts [room 512] no bottled water offered. Kettle available, with tea or coffee. On the corner is a convenient shop, and nearby some restaurants. Breakfast buffet at extra cost 2400Y.
*recommended is to visit Miyajima, within an hour by train and ferry.

I was a little concerned how far the walk from the station would be with luggage as there was a bridge to cross the river but by the time you exit the underground crossing from the station you are almost there and can see the hotel awning from the traffic lights over the bridge. All our internet bookings were smooth and this time our room included the buffet breakfast. A good selection of Japanese and some western items in a room on the top floor with lots of windows. As others have mentioned the decor seemed a bit old fashioned European and our room was a slightly odd design with the entry/fridge/desk/internet cable at one end, the bathroom in the middle and a double bed and TV on a small stand at the other. We only needed somewhere to sleep and shower so didn't worry us. We bought the 2 day tram pass with the ferry and ropeway (2 cable cars and a stunning view from Mt Misen) on Miyajima Island included, this is good value even though our JR pass covered the JR ferry/train to Miyajima. You can take the tram to Miyajima but it takes a lot longer. We found it convenient to stay near the station and catch the tram to the Peace Park both daytime and at night to see the A dome lit up. While I expect everyone knows the horrors of the bombing I was very impressed that Hiroshima has done such a wonderful job with the museum and seems to present a balanced view of the devastation. It is also remarkable that a small country like Japan has devoted what was a busy section of town to an entire peace park when I can imagine how valuable that land/space would be. It feels like a clean safe place.

Very close to the main station and the tram lines. I like the fact that they use actual keys instead of the card to enter your room. Restaurant on the 14th floor. Breakfast was pretty good. Also the decorations inside the hotel had that European feel to it.

I had a conference in Hiroshima, so we stayed 6 nights at Grand Intelligent and it was simply wonderful!!

First, the hotel was very accesible from the JR Hiroshima Station, it's less than 10min walk across the bridge. Being in close proximity to the JR station means, it's really convenient should you want to travel to nearby cities. For e.g from Hiroshima, we travelled to Himeiji and Osaka with ease :) Moreover, you could get to other parts of Hiroshima e.g Atomic Bomb Dome, Hatchu-bori etc, really easily too as the bus and tram station are all within 5mins walk from the hotel.

Second, the hotel staff spoke English (language IS an issue in Hiroshima) and were able to comprehend us pretty well. They were polite and even when we wanted to extend another night, it was without much hassle.

Third, the room that we were given (Room 627) was pretty spacious based on Japanese standards. It was at the corner of the 6th level and the laundry, ice, vending machine (the machines stock Haagen Daaz ice cream) facilites etc. was just 5 steps away from our room! Hence it was really easy to satisfy my ice-cream craving at nite :) The rooms were made everyday by pleasant service staff, and everything was really clean. The toilet was small as expected, but we are not complaining. There was free LAN Internet access. We didnt bring our LAN cable for our notebook but there was no issue with loaning it for free from the reception throughout our stay.

Fourth, the decor was just simply resplendent for the price that we paid. Just look at the pics! Hence, we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Hiroshima!!

This was a good hotel, importantly when you a lugging a suitcase, this hotel was close to the train station and easy to find. Hiroshima was a great place to visit, all the staff and city itself were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and tidy, and equiped with towels, shampoo, shower gel, fridge, hair dryer and kettle. The Breakfast here is a very large buffet of both western style and Japanese style food. There is free internet access in the lobby, which is very gaudy and over the top, packed with every type of ornament you could imagine (i loved it!) although i dont have any photos of the ornaments. The room was very reasonably priced too. Easy to get around the city by streetcar.

Good location, that’s just about it. Reasonable Wifi speed.

Pros: Nice reception area, nice view from restaurant, close to station, close to a convenience store.

Cons: Really cramped bathroom, mattress was on the soft side, breakfast was at an acceptable level and the fittings looked very dated (circa 1980?)

Provided: Pyjamas, disposable slippers, toothbrush. No hairbrush or razors.

The location of the hotel is just great for travellers. You just come out of the railway station, walk through a subway and there it is. It literally takes 10 minutes to walk.

From the outside the hotel does not look anything special. But inside it quite pleasantly decorated. I know some reviewers have said that the look is dated but this is Japan we are talking about and not the UK.

The people on reception were lovely and spoke fluent English. My room was well laid out and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was quite a size and the toilet seat was an electronic one which could squirt warm water on you bum - if you like that sort of thing :)

The place was very peaceful and relaxing. I only had breakfast in the hotel preferring to eat outside in the evenings. The breakfast was a buffet style breakfast and I was surprised at the variety of food and drink there was on offer.

Overall, a really nice and peaceful place to stay. Staff just can't do enough for you and are genuinely happy to serve you. The hotel is quite reasonable price wise (there is a much larger hotel opposite which charges twice as much). Just around the corner there is a 24 hour 247 shop which sells wonderful pastries and pies. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to Hiroshima.

Convenient location, easy walk to the station and street car station. Lobby is pretty and the garden is cute. Staff were very freindly and helpful. they reccommended we take a walk along the river near by, it was beautiful! Breakfast was great, the restaurant had a great view. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Wifi is only available in the lobby, so most foreign guests spent there free time in the lobby! We were a group of 16 so it became a bit crowded in the lobby!
