Breakfast was a bit of a free for all trying to obtain a table, but there was a good selection of food.
Lobby area was very nice with a nice bar and even a little gift shop.
Rooms were decent and clean and about on par with a 3 star hotel. There is internet access in the business centre but nothing in the rooms :(
Breakfast was in a small cheesy room on the main floor. With Mexican decorations. Although the breakfast was smallish compared to the usual Asian hotel breakfast feast, the food was of very good, fresh quality and we enjoyed it a lot. Cheerful service in that room. Great fried rice. Anyways, I digress....
We loved just being able to leave our hotel and all the retail was there. Restaurants around the drum tower were great. We ate at a dumpling restaurant one night for dinner and another night in a food court sort of place. Very cheap.
Definitely would stay here again.
Susy
The city itself is just plain dirty and smoggy. Dust and grime everywhere. They're constantly wetting down the streets. The hotel is in a dirty area, on the edge of respectable neighborhoods and newer commercial development. There are many close shopping malls and restaurants. There are three KFCs, two McDonald's, a Burger King and Dairy Queen within a mile or so around the hotel (but why not try the local food?).
The air quality here is beyond atrocious. This is a highly industrialized city with 8,000,000 plus residents and lots of cars and trucks. Bring a mask if you have any issues with dust or pollution. There is not much to see in Xian beyond the Wild Goose Pagoda and the Terra cotta Soldiers (located 45 minutes outside the city). The old city walls, Bell Tower, Drum Tower and moat are worth a drive-by. You'll soon see that most major cities in China have at least one drum tower and one bell tower (anciently used to announce the time) and most cities have ancient walls and even moats. If you can get past the air quality, there are a couple of nice parks and public squares, particularly near the large Wild Goose Pagoda.
The Bell and Drum towers and Muslim market place are only minutes away from the hotel, yet the hotel is away from the noise and beggars that plague the most central hotels. Able to walk to all the centre sights and shops easily.
The lobby was elegant with bell service. There is a great coffee and tea service area off the lobby, not inexspensive but very nice . Rooms were a good size, very clean and the bed was soft with great linens, nice extras in each room too. Small mini bar and excellent room service. Front desk were efficient able to speak English very well. The room came with computer and internet access!
Never made it to the buffet restaurant, enjoyed eating down the street at the local food court that was a fraction of the hotel dining room, but beware the pickpockets here.
Booked with Sino hotels who beat the room rate substantially. I will stay here again.
The rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds. We had a room on the 10th floor so had nice views out across the city.
The breakfast service was very busy on our first day with people getting up to see the Terracotta warriors. The layout of the breakfast stations seemed poor and there was no flow. The second day we headed down much later and the choice was minimal. It looked as if nothing had been replenished for a while. Considering there was over 40 minutes of service left I’d have expected more choice.
The public areas of the hotel look recently decorated and it gives it a more luxury feel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and I’d recommend this hotel if you were looking to visit Xi’an.
Most important thing I want to note is they offer drivers/cars for the day!! When we checked in he told us they offer tours to the terracotta warriors and other sites around the city. We rented a car and driver for the day for 600cny to take us to the Terracotta Army, and a few other museums along the way. The driver was very good and literally just waited in the car while we walked around the sights. We began at 8:30 and at 5:30 (or if you’re done sooner) he takes you back to the hotel :). I highly recommend this instead of hiring a taxi or trying the transit system. Since it’s so far I found it so convenient that he picked us up and dropped us off all from the hotel.
One last thing, I’ve only spoken to one man this whole weekend, as not many people can speak English. Even our driver had to call this man, to translate what we were saying. everyone is very friendly though!
Breakfast buffet was lovely and the hotel itself had a welcoming feel in the grand lobby.
Rooms were average size, nice bathroom although it was an average size as well. Clean and modern feel to them.
Walking distance to shops and restaurants. I highly recommend staying here if you are going to Xian.
