My husband and I spent five nights at the Tuchnov at the Palace Hotel and loved it! We value a good location and the location is excellent, being just around the corner from Palace Square. Our room had a balcony from which we had a view of the Admiralty spire at the end of the street! Literally everything in St Petersberg is walking distance (Palace Square, Hermitage, St Isaac's, Nevsky Prospect, the Bronze Horseman, Peter and Paul Fortress etc) and if it is not then the nearest metro stop is only a 2-minute walk away. The service we received during our stay was outstanding! Our welcome was warm and we were offered tea, coffee and homemade cakes on our arrival. The dining room is stocked with snacks, a variety of homemade cakes and tea and coffee 24 hours a day. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a wide choice. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is on the fourth floor of an old apartment building with no lift, but this did not bother us at all. Marina and the staff were so obliging, and we could communicate in English which makes things so much easier! We will be staying there if we ever return to St Petersburg and highly recommend the Tuchnov at the Palace Hotel to future travellers to that lovely city!…
I seldom write reviews but this hotel deserves a lot more than a good review. I chose Tuchnov at the Palace Hotel for my boyfriend's birthday holiday at St. Petersburg. We took Uber from the airport and luckily our driver dropped us off right at the door, otherwise, it would have been difficult to find the property. It is in a building with the entrance between an Uzbek restaurant a convenience store. Upon being buzzed in the property, and as we made our way up to the 4th floor where the hotel was, my boyfried asked me what kind of hotel was this that I booked. I was a bit cautious and apprehensive as well because it looks a bit old. However, when we got into the property, it was like a completely different world. The interior was very clean and the design sophisticated. The lounge area was cozy with the electric fireplace and an elegant chandelier. The rooms were the right size and was already heated when we arrived. It was very clean and elegant. Now the service. I have been to a lot of hotels, sometimes even expensive ones but the service in this hotel was impeccable. They really go the extra mile to keep their guests happy and their stay very memorable. They left a book about St. Petersburg for us to read in our room. They would gladly help us in our queries about where to go and which restaurants to go to. And they would always offer food and drinks (which were available 24 hours by the way). The sweetest thing they did was surprise us with a fruit platter and Russian sparkling wine on our last night as it was my boyfriend's birthday. On our departure, Marina, who was the very lovely receptionist insisted us to wait as she asked someone to come and help with our luggages even if we said we were fine. She is just the nicest. All in all, this hotel made our holiday remarkable. I highly recommend this place! Another plus is, most of the highlights of the city is a good 5 to 15 minute walk. With its decent price, you get more than what you paid for!…
If you go with an idea that you will see a hotel in a separate building, it is not. It's located on 4th floor of a building so can't call it a hotel. No lift so you have to carry your luggage yourself to 4th floor. Staff Kiryl was too good. Helpful n warm. The girl who replaced him next day was like as if forcefully sent on work. No smile. Zoomby. Breakfast ok. Standard room too small. Housekeeping Above average. In a small area you will find everything. Now the best part is locational advantage. Centrally located. You can reach out to tourist places walking. Super market is just below n coffee shop as well. So no need to run around for buying day to day stuff. Eating joint at a lil distance. Enjoy St Petersburg.
Great location! Just down the street from the Admiralty Building and the Hermitage, and close to so much more. The hotel was very clean, my room was spotless! Comfortable bed and pillows, the breakfast was sufficient, and the staff were all nice and helpful. I know maybe 10 words in Russian, but it was not a problem, as the staff were able to converse with me in English, which I much appreciated.
Firstly the good points. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with excellent air conditioning and there was tea and coffee with pastries available 24 hours. The location is excellent with all the major sight a few minutes walk from the property. And now the bad points. The entrance to the hotel is terrible. You need to be buzzed in as the property is on the fourth floor and not the third floor as advertised. When we got through the door we both thought omg what is this because it's so run down. Then be prepared to climb the 75 steps to the room so not for anyone with mobility problems. There is no lounge as such only a room with tables and chairs where you can have breakfast and a coffee and pastry so no comfy seats or the facility to have any alcoholic drinks. For this reason I would say this is a bed and breakfast not a hotel. There is no point in having a tv in the room as you cant get any English channels. We felt slightly cheated because I booked a suite and what we got was an average sized room with a small table and two chairs. We did have a balcony but because it was on the main road we never sat out because of how noisy it was and the traffic fumes. We stayed at the hotel for four days and they never changed the towels. I dare say they would have if we complained but you shouldn't need to ask when clearly we had used them all after one day. As it happens we had our own which we used…
