Perfectly located just off Nevsky Prospect. That's where it ends. Do not use the management photos to base what you will get if you stay here. Very, very small room. The bed was comfortable but difficult to get in as no room on one side and not much on the other side. Thin walls, could hear every person that walked past in the hall outside. No block out curtains. No wardrobe. No kettle. No fridge. Nowhere to put suitcases but on window sill. No side table lights, just a bright light in middle of the room with switch over near the main door. TV, only in Russian. Airconditioning. Extremely small bathroom. Smelly, if I could describe the smell coming from the bathroom it was like raw sewage at times. We placed a towel over the drain to stop the smell, it worked a little. Toilet had pump which is loud, you can hear other rooms flush. Noisey fan. Breakfast had limited selection. Steep steps to get into reception, very hard to carry your suitcase up and down. Nice enough staff. I will let my travel agent know I wasn't happy, we had 4 nights here. .

Unfortunately the extremely rude reception staff (Vladisliav and Akexev) ruined our visit to St Petersburg. Ny son works as a teacher in Russia and because Russian immigration was extending his work visa, he travelled with legitimate copies of his documents, as well as an official letter. He was treated like a common criminal and this guy Alexev literally threatened us to the extent that he insisted we undertake to write a good review or be at risk of getting thrown out. He made it more than clear that he was doing us a favour to allow us into his hotel. These two gentlemen should receive training on customer service i e. how to welcome guests, how to treat guests, not to threaten guests or they should not be working in the hospitality industry. To first take our money and then threaten us to write a good review is not on. I am unfortunately unable to recommend this hotel. I would avoid it at all cost.

Hotel is well located - 150 m from Nevskiy ave. And this is the only advantage. Interior looks cheep like old apparment, slightly refurnished. Actually, this was appartments in former time. Canteen located in neighbor door across the yard in basement. Breakfast is poor. I would recomend this hotel for staying one night only.

This hotel is the ideal base for exploring this fascinating city. A few minutes' walk from the Nevskiy Prospekt metro station, it is equally so from the Hermitage and Church Of The Saviour on Spilled Blood, and there are regular buses to other parts of the city from Nevskiy Prospekt, the city's main thoroughfare (the 27 will take you to the Mariinsky Theatre - I took it to get to the ballet there: you must go to the ballet when in Russia). The reception staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful at check-in: the first thing I noticed about the room was how warm it was, but then the outside temperature had been below zero: the room itself was very comfortable though, and kept spotlessly clean by the staff - a pleasure to return to after a long day and a nightcap (there is a 24 hour 'Real' supermarket as you turn left out of the hotel gates, two or three minutes' walk. There were one or two occasions where my keycard needed to be reprogrammed, but this was not an issue for the staff. Additionally, the Wi-Fi reception was excellent at all times. Plenty of choice at breakfast (continental), but for me, porridge was the winner, good fuel for lots of walking in the cold weather. The staff were very efficient in keeping the food replenished. Once again, an excellent location in the heart of St. Petersburg.

If you just want a place to drop your bags and crash at night then this is your place. Rooms are clean, staff is helpful and friendly and the location is perfect. A few bars downstairs on the strip, tourist attractions around the corner. Definitely a place I would stay at again.
