Hats off to Marina our receptionist who was undaunted by her lack of English and communicated with mime, the odd English word and an ingenious app on her phone. All the staff are friendly and will check up bus time-tables, train information and so on. Fabulous to have a place to stay at such a reasonable price right on the main drag.
compared to many hotels in the surrounding it offers a real nice deal for a cheap prize. Beds are of normal european size and comfortable. During my two week stay the internet connection was always fast, only on one evening it totally dropped out but was fixed after 2 hours. The staff is around 24/7 and pretty friendly, two out of the 3 ladies spoke fluent english, one seemed not to be absolutely comfortable with english but was still very friendly. Each morning they prepare breakfast at whatever time you wish for (which also means that you get alarm service for free). You can pick from a few options what you want to have, at least I personally thought it was nice, but don't expect a buffet. The hotel is located in a backyard by Nevsky Prospect. The cathedrals and the hermitage are within a 30 minute walk. The station of the high speed train to Moscow is only 10 minutes way, so you can take a 1 day trip to Moscow. The metro line which offers connections to trains to Puschkin/Pawlowsk and Peterhof can be easily reached within 10 minutes.…
The location was great. Room was clean. The staff was helpful. Was very kind and friendly. I would like to stay again. No need to use the metro which means you see more of the city. Free WiFi. Free tea and coffee all day. The breakfast hours are not limited. The hotel is located in the very city center close to all major sights, 500 m from Moscow railway station. Good price.
This hotel is more of an apartment. No elevator up to the rooms. I stayed on the 3rd floor, so had a little "excercise" when checking in:). But for people who want a simple, well priced place to stay near Nevsky Prospekt......this is it! The lady managing the floor couldn't speak english, but was really great......and she delivered a really nice breakfast to my room every morning.
It's a very nice little hotel, very comfortable and closest to the main city attractions. The staff is also very kind and helpful. The breakfast is served into the room at any time. The hotel has only 6 rooms. The hotel is located on the 4th floor without an elevator. Location is great - just next to Nevsky Prospect, but not on the street itself so you don't hear all the noise. Free wifi. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The hotel is easy to find and is also close to a lot of attractions. The climb to the third floor with two large suitcases was a bit of a challenge. The room was a bit small but as your waking hours are spent out of it, it was not a real problem. There are only 6 rooms and breakfasts are served in your bedroom as there is no dining area. The breakfasts were very good and more than you could eat at one time.
The hotel has only six rooms. It was all very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The staff did not know English well, but you can understand everything. The hotel is cozy and comfortable. Free wi fi. Breakfast is served in the room at any time. Good breakfast. The hotel is located on Nevsky Prospect, the main street of the city. Located on the third or fourth floor with no elevator. Good price.
We booked this hotel for its location, after reading trip advisor reviews, but i think i should write a truthful review. The picture they present of the hotel facade on the booking sites is not actually the hotel which is a bit deceiving. You actually walk thru an arch in the middle of that facade into a court yard, where at the back of the court yard there is a door where you press 15 to talk to someone to tell them you have a booking,Then the door opens and upon entry you are faced with a stair case that mirrors a delapidated building that should have been pulled down years ago, then carry your luggage up 4 flights of stairs ( a bit of a struggle as there is no elevator ) to another door where you ring buzzer to get in.There is no foyer just a desk at the end of a short hall that houses 6 rooms. After reading trip advisor where they said they speak good english i dont know when as we had 3 ladies man the desk while we were there, over 4 days not one spoke a word of english, lucky i had google translate as 1 gentleman was so frustated trying to communicate also the brochures they have on hall table with map had no attractions listed only retaurants. So if you use this "Hotel" come well prepared.Having said that we enjoyed our stay, but i would list it as a bed and breakfast not a hotel. The breafast was good the room nice size and it was clean. The stairs were trying but the location was fantastic,a bit overpriced for what it was but we loved the location and would stay again.…
We came back to St. Petersburg for another visit. Almost year later. Beautiful city, especially now in late spring. Very hospitable and kind staff in the hotel. This time we lived in other Altburg – on Nevsky. Very good location. Main street of the city. Same as other Altburg, we had breakfast late (sometime in the evening). Everything is clean, people are very nice. Like before, we didn’t use any transportation. All our sightseeing on foot. Better to order airport transfer at the hotel. Our friends took taxi at airport on arrival, it was very expensive. The receptionist speaks little English, but we understood, was no problem in communication. They are very friendly. Tea and coffee is free all day: we were surprised. Hotel is on 3d floor (no elevator), but this was ok for us. No problem. We liked our trip and recommend hotel.…
I've been doing some traveling in Europe in December to see few places - got a tip from my NYC friends who get around a bit. I got to St. Petersburg after staying a few days in Prague. St. Petersburg is an awesome city! I wish I had more than 5 days here. I didn't know much about the place (...usual stuff - tips from friends and a lonely planet). It was a shocker to find out that you cannot afford much of accommodation for less than a grand with the main hotel chains. I tried couple of places and gave up. Then I found Altburg - that was an awesome discovery! The place is small and cozy, it is directly on the main street (Nevsky), but is hidden away from the noise by a small yard. Service was very good (not much English though). My room was excellent and the location you cannot beat. If ever again in St. Pete, will stay with you guys.…
