Really small and messy reception.. hard to fall in line because there's hardly any space. And its very cluttered..like they didn't even try to make it look neat

Outdated but expensive hotel
Review of Grand Regal Hotel
Pending review
I booked last January 17, 2020 for one night because I have an exam to take which is held in their hotel. The price is expensive. I paid for 3500 pesos for one night promo price if regular its 5000 pesos more or less. My room was in the 7th floor. Nothing is extra special in the room just a normal hotel room. The problem is that I'm situated at the 7th floor and their phone is not working. I need to go down to the lobby if I have some requests or if I'm lucky if there is a hotel staff roaming the area. I expected that the floor is carpeted but its not. I did not bring my own slippers expecting there is a hotel slipper provided but I opened all the drawers and there's none. There is no comforter also provided only a plain thin white blanket which is usually the first layer of blanket placed to any other hotels .I was disappointed that I paid this much but did not expect the service or amenities is not good enough for its price. The good thing only is that they have good WiFi connection, enough toiletries and there breakfast buffet is delicious.More

The hotel is in a great area but it appears as ancient during that time. One advantage of remaining here is that's near the Airplane terminal, Damosa, and SM Lanang. The room is normal. The bed is little. On the off chance that your room is on the upper floors, you may get to see Davao City. The inn offers free Wi-Fi but the moderate association and I continuously get detached for a few reasons. Good remain by and large but very costly.

My partner and I love to staycation around the city. This by far has the laziest service.

1. During check in, even though I just had a couple of bags, no one offered to help from the bell men idly standing near the reception.

2. When we arrived in the room, we could not get in even though we followed the arrow direction on the card.
So my partner had to go doen again.
Only to be told: 'How did you use tha card?'
Turns out, it was printed upside down.
And no one bothered to tell me during check in while the other receptionists were busy chatting.

3. We get in and voila! Phone's not working.
So I go down. AGAIN.
Apparently the whole floor has no functioning phone except for the one in the hallway.

4. We stayed for 2 nights and our toilet paper and water were not refilled. But they were quick to bill us during check out for one water bottle we consumed. Inefficient housekeeping.

5. Speaking of checkout, I left my purple shampoo. It was a new bottle and it ain't cheap. While waiting for the room check, no one bothered to let the front desk know that the clients left something. So we were given the go signal that all's good.

Such a shame, even smaller hotels we've stayed in are quick to catch up with the clients if we accidentally left something.

I don't see a saving grace as to why I should come back for another stay.

Food is barely passable. Service is lazy and inefficient. Staff are unattentive and loud. Pool has not been cleaned. Carpet smells of mold.

This hotel is not GRAND at all.
Save your money. Even if it comes at a discount.

My friends and I stayed here because we needed the convenience for our transfer to the airport. The facade is impressive on first sight but the grand entrance area was reserved for those who are casino filipino patrons. We checked in at the back of the hotel which took a while because the solitary front desk officer had a hard time looking for our booking. While searching she has to entertain in house guest inquiries and complaints. Check in took quite a while. While waiting a lady who had a room at the first floor complained of a probable rat activity because a package with food which they left was opened and contents were scattered on the floor… the front desk officer had that attended immediately. We were assigned to a room on the 7th floor which had a section closed off for renovation. The room was outdated, the bed lumpy and the linens scarce. we had to turn off our air conditioning because the room got too cold despite adjusting the temp and the blanket was 2 thin layers . Our friend who had a room next to us had to suffer in a warm room since the air conditioning didn’t work. Breakfast was a moderately generous buffet but you would have to question how keen they are with cleanliness since the table linens had a lot of food stains and they put the cutlery on top of it. Overall, a very disappointing experience… it might have been glorious before but its rundown and downright uncomfortable today. If you can stay somewhere else pls do so. A reputable chain has a branch near the area maybe that would be a better choice.

It is pretty clear this hotel has been going on a downward spiral for quit sometime. The reason is because their front desk staff are rude and the manager doesn't care.

Whenever you have a hotel like this, you know it's one of those situations where they are not happy with their pay. So they just run the hotel into the ground like Sir Domini the front desk manager.

I spoke to this guy on the phone over a complaint and he kept saying sorry but it was obvious he didn't really care. His staff member (Siti) hung up on me 6 times!!! When i wanted to change the date of my booking, and she asked me to call Agoda (my booking agent).

Even though i called Agoda i wanted to talk to the manager for a long term stay. She asked me why i wanted to speak to a manager and i told her it's private between me and the manager

that's when she started hanging up.

It's obvious to me that the manager is in on this type of activity because when i called him and got him on the phone finally he said he heard the conversation.

So it's like...if you can hear, or heard the conversation why didn't you intervene right away? Or couldn't you reply to me by e-mail and apologize for your staff's rudely conduct???

So guys don't expect anything from this hotel. I would go as far as to say you are not safe here.

With the non attentiveness and care for the guests needs, you can almost be sure you're going to have many problems. There are many hotels in Davao why put up with this garbage. I been coming here for 5 years but i will from go somewhere else from now on. They don't deserve my business or the business from good people. This is not a good hotel, and I do not recommend it.

Service was good. The staff was quick to assist us just as we stepped out of the taxi. The receptionist was kind enough to answer my queries regarding the room I reserved online. I was informed that my room had a twin bed plus extra bed which was not to my expectation since before my check-in date, I was emailed for any special request regarding my room. I requested for a non-smoking room, a large bed, and a quiet room. I was also charged online for an extra bed. To my satisfaction, they changed my room immediately. The room was located at the 11th floor. And surely, my special request was granted except for the extra bed which I was charged, was not visible. I love the room. It was really clean and neat, and spacious, too. It has a tub and a mini bar, which was empty. Funny, I was asked for a deposit for the use of the mini bar.. You can see from the window, the pool down below, but not quite inviting. It is old and the place needs renovation. Breakfast is average, few foods to choose from the buffet meal..Overall, good value for the money spent overnight.

I attended a Workshop in this hotel and forgot to retrieve an office-issued high quality voice recorder in one of the big rooms. Even after 18 hours and a request sent only via phone, the staff from the banquet and engineering sections promptly assisted me in locating the said device. It was secured and returned to me. With this kind of service, i will not hesitate to patronize their services again, with such honest and accommodating staff rendering prompt and excellent customer service...Kudos!

This hotel is one of the worst hotels I have stayed at in the Philippines in 7 years.
Unfortunately I have stayed here a few times with work and it has not improved in 7 years. The internet is too slow to even read a newspaper.
The food is disgusting. I never had a meal served hot or warm in 3 days or anything served within an hour. Any chicken dish is overcooked, the fish is old and stinks and any fries are solid and brittle. The service is no better. Using a beer bottle on the bar every night for 3 days as an ashtray the bar tender watched this and still couldn't come up with an idea of actually bringing an ash tray. The staff also told blatant lies. The rooms had extensive water damage all over the ceilings. It really is a dreadful place and a disgrace and i have no idea why anyone would stay here for the price they charge. A colleague had a mouse running around the room attached to a mouse trap. No apology.
Any positive reviews on here must be from people used to staying in toilets.
Avoid at all costs.
