I stumbled on the Haven Peak when looking for an interesting destination. It was far more than I had bargained for.
The staff was very welcoming and made my stay very enjoyable. Bright smiles and polite conversation greeted me every morning. Thanks to Jeffrey, and Jason and all the wonderful staff.
They have beautiful organic gardens and their organic coffee was the best I had ever had!
The resort had a beautiful rustic feel of an eco-tourist resort.
I stayed for 5 days in this paradise but wished it could be much longer. I didn't get a chance to enjoy the day trips offered, (Next visit there, for sure), because I was so in love with the mountain resort and the tranquility that existed from the grounds and the balcony that overlooked a breathtaking view.

While the resort is still working at ironing out a few of the nuisances such as improving the cabins and beddings to a higher level, the overall experience is well worth the trip through the mountains and the climb up the 208 steps.

The town itself is quite small and was a bit of a culture shock to a Canadian suburbanite like myself but it fits with the valley feel of the place. Hidden and understated.

We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. The staff is very accommodating, the food they served was always fresh (but you need to be patient because it takes longer time to be served than the usual!). Not to mention, everything on their menu was reasonably-priced. The view was breath-taking, and we loved the place even better because it was off-peak season and we owned the resort!

Tips:

If you're commuting, van is a better option than the usual bus. The fare is only PHP130 from Tagum City. You will be dropped at the terminal. Expect a flock of habal-habal drivers swarming around you. But Haven's Peak is just a few meters away from the terminal so we opted to just walk. Guess what? It only took us a few minutes to reach the top (excluding the stairway). We took a couple of pictures and we're set to conquer the 208-step stairway to heaven, as they call it. It was somewhat exhausting, yes, but when you've reached the top-most part of the resort, everything will pay off. You'll be blown away by the view.

Ask the front desk about their Day Tour. Unfortunately, it was too late for us to avail the tour - we only knew about it on our last day! :( I think you only have to pay PHP1000 (as a group) and using the resort's private van, they will bring you to Marangig falls, Tagbibinta falls, Aguacan cold sprig and Kanlawig hot spring. Talk about getting the most bang for your buck!

They serve the best native coffee! So far, the tastiest coffee I had. :)

Haven's Peak is undeniably a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

This is a beautifully situated hotel with fabulous views across the town. There are 208 steps to climb to reach it, but if you don’t fancy that they have cable car which can get you there for a fee.
Once you get to the top there are two swimming pools and a maze of little paths running between beds of flowers.
This should have been a great place to spend the night, however we had a few problems....
The chalet we had as at the very top of the hill, initially it looked very cute, on closer inspection it was in need of a bit of maintenance: Ants nest in the inside wall, damage to the wall where an old unit had been removed and a new smaller table fitted, a window frame that didn’t fit properly so there was a large gap that allowed mosquitoes to enter, no mirror in the bathroom. None of this would really have bothered me, but what did annoy me was the water situation. No one mentioned that there was no water supply to the chalet when we booked in, when we mentioned it we were told that it would be back in two hours. We came back 3 hours later and were told that it would be back in an hour or so. I know these things can happen and would have accepted it except that during this time no one had thought to fill the plastic buckets in the bathroom so we could shower and flush the toilet. After some discussion a partial refund was agreed and someone brought some water to fill the buckets. This member of staff made a big fuss about how heavy the water was and appeared to trying get a tip from us! The water eventually came back on at 3 am at which point we discovered that the shower wouldn’t turn off so we were kept awake by the sound of running water for the next couple of hours. We had told the manager that we were leaving at 5 am. There are very few lights the path down to reception which, in my opinion, made for a dangerous walk in the dark. When we got to reception the entire place was deserted, no night staff at all. The chalet was Php 2,500, the partial refund was Php 750. I believe this is very poor value for money

This review is a little late but still justified. We booked a couple of big rooms here (our family plus another family whom we are close with). Unfortunately, on our way, the ONLY road from our side towards their place had a landslide. Because of this, we were forced to go back. Mind you, this was still at noon time (not yet check in time).

We contacted them about said landslide which makes us unable to go to the resort. The owner's reply? "NOT OUR PROBLEM". They refused to give us back our money or push our reservation to another date DESPITE ALREADY HAVE PAID FOR THE ROOMS. If this is how you deal with your customers then you deserve a 1-star review, actually, 0.

We arrived at this Resort around 6 in the evening and we are greeted with a guy name Ed, We are all at the reception area he told us we will need to pay 100 php each and since we are all 6 girls so we payed 600 php all in all then he settled us at the resort function hall. As soon as we arrived there me and my friends put up our 2 tents. Then around 9pm Ed came at us telling us we have to pay another 400 coz he said 500 pesos per tent, So I told him it's not what he said initially but he refused and acted like we were lying, He acted very rude and even answered us back madly. So me and my friends agreed to change place so I told him we will just pull out so we will get back our money he agreed to that but when we go down with 208 steps of stairs he make the door bump like he was mad and even turn off the light so we can't see our way down and knowing we were all girls at 9pm. Super rude treatment from him and when we told him we will report him he just say "No problem" like in arrogant way. The place is so unclean and alot of insects around. Totally not safe mainly no security guard around at night and they turn off the lights in some part of the resort mainly the swimming pool so how we could swim if there's no light?. They don't allow us to bring food inside the facility or else we need to pay the corkage but then we try to ask for the menu they said the list is not available. So no choice but we need to pay for corkage. I highly not recommend this place mainly for All-girls traveler. I hope the management will do something about this mainly with the rude guy name Ed.

Stayed at Havens Peak Resort as recommended by my sister who has been to the resort when she went to Maragusan. From Davao City,it will take you around 3hrs via private vehicle or maybe around 4hrs via public transport. I have been to Maragusan for a couple of times already yet always decides to go back to Nabunturan after visiting Maragusan (Nabunturan is the capital town of Compostela Valley, about 50km away)

As soon as I arrived in Maragusan,I drove straight to the resort, asked the locals for directions (but you can see the resort on top of a hill but just dont know which way to go). I did not book a reservation however there was only 1 vacant room left when I arrived and immediately paid it.

To my surprise, the personnel or that area beside the parking lot was not the reception area,I will have to climb about 208 steps up the hill. I wasn't ready but still did the quite enduring steps up the hill which can be quite frustrating.

As soon as I reached the top,the personnel on the counter (reception area) offered me a glass of water (which is good because you will definitely be running out of air/water when you get to the reception area) which is a plus factor. The view from the top is fantastic! It was something worth-it! You could see the view of Maragusan from the top! It was worth every step!

As for the rooms,it was surprisingly good (because I thought that the rooms will be just like the ordinary). The resort has kiddie pool and a much bigger pool for adult (yes, thats on the hill). The resort adds a little touch on the scenery as they have bunch of flowers all over the resort, some relaxation area and well maintained cabanas.

Though the 208 steps can be quite a hassle, but I can still recommend this resort and will definitely be coming back. The place is peaceful, surreal and relaxing. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend and I took a 5 hour mini van trip from Davao proper to Maragusan to go to Havens Peak. The road was very rough. Maragusan has little to recommend it. And then we arrived at Havens Peak high on the mountain. WOW! What a feeling! Fresh, clean, cool, welcoming, expansive! The resort is clearly a labor of love - and we loved it. The restaurant serves traditional Pinoy fare and has an open air view of the entire valley. Very inspiring.

The restaurant has the requisite Karaoke and the guests were not afraid to use it. I could tell the singers loved the place as much as we did.

The resort has a kiddies pool and a small swimming pool which proved to be quite refreshing.

Food was tasty and reasonably priced. The whole place is laid out in a very charing way.

If you are looking for a genuine Filipino experience and you want to do it on a budget, be sure to come to Havens Peak. It's worth the long trip.

We went there for a few days over Christmas and then back to Davao. We loved the place so much, we hopped back on the van and ran back out for another few days over New Years. Well worth it.

Haven's Peak was located at the heart of Maragusan which my husband grew up. This place can give you a peace of mind, very calming scene from the top and you can definitely adore mother nature at its fullest.

My girlfriends family lives in Maragusan so we decided to stay at Havens Peak for 6 days.
We had a 4 hour shuttle (Toyota Hi Ace) ride from Davao city with a short stop in Tagum city.Bit cramped but all part of the travel adventure.
There is a rather steep walk up a gravelled road and the 200 odd steps to negotiate(all part of the adventure) loved it.
Please note..Cash only no cards.
The view from anywhere in this resort is worth everything,i cant put it into words.Mountains,Banana plantations and Maraguson.
The climate is mountain so a little cooler than other parts of Phili, cool nights warm to hot between say 10 and 4 and then cools down again.
The rooms were ok good aircon(not really needed),hot water ok,wifi was average didn't work in room but that wasn't an issue.
Beautiful gardens and surroundings and the staff were magnificent.
We invited family for afternoon lunch and they were delighted with the food and the kids loved the pool.
I loved the area and would definitely stay again

"At the moment you need to walk up 208 steps from the parking lot to the resort. Some find that hike a bit too strenuous, but if you take your time you will see it as part of the adventure. The owner is building a cable car for those unable to make the climb. The cable car is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2015."
