For the recently concluded 58th Association of Municipal Health Officers in the Philippines Annual Convention last April 12-16, 2011 I opted not to stay at the venue hotel (Grand Regal) and searched for a cheaper alternative instead. Thanks to TripAdvisor, I learned of Piazza Luna Dormitel. The things that people said about the place were really great so I had very high expectations for my stay. It was also my first time in Davao City and I didn't want a crappy hotel stay to spoil the experience.

I was not disappointed. =)

I stayed at the dormitel for 5 days and 4 nights and overall, it was a hassle-free, restful and excellent experience for me.

I initially thought that the hotel wasn't that accessible because the taxi driver whom I rode with from the airport wasn't familiar with the place but I quickly came to realize that this was more because the dormitel is relatively new (less than a year old). Commuting to and from the Grand Regal Hotel made me appreciate its excellent location. A sikad ride (hired in front of the hotel) to the main highway (to Gaisano Mall, Grand Regal, etc) costs only 10 pesos and a few meters' walk. It would cost you the same to ride a sikad (pedicab) to and from Aldevinco (tiangge, pasalubong, pearl jewelry center). If the taxi driver isn't familiar with the place, tell him it's just beside the Sta Ana (or was it Sta Clara) Elem. School and is near Ateneo de Davao (where you can ask the sikad drivers for directions).

My room was great! It was clean, soundproof, beddings smelled fresh, airconditioning worked perfectly, cable TV and fast WiFi. The bathroom was a bit small and cramped though but it was a minor thing and didn't do much to detract from the room's restful ambiance. The built in cabinets were also roomy and I was able to conveniently stash my suitcase inside one of the compartments with plenty of room left for my other stuff. You can request daily housekeeping before you go out for your day's business. Just remember to leave your keycard (they DO HAVE a magnetic keycard which was awesome for a dormitel) with the front desk.

The hotel staff were courteous, efficient and quick to respond to requests. It was great to see that the management and operation of the hotel was a family affair. The owners were very warm and friendly to me and this definitely added to the amazing time I spent in Piazza Luna.

There's no free breakfast but you can always request for it from the hotel staff (at a fee of course). There's also no mini fridge in the room but if you can do without these, then you'll definitely be in for a treat at Piazza Luna.

I strongly recommend the place to any would be visitors to Davao and on my next visit, Piazza Luna will be my number one choice of accommodation. =)

Sa uulitin! Maraming maraming salamat po!

We only stayed here one night, but overall had a great experience. The hotel was very clean and modern. The owner was very friendly and incredibly helpful. We asked if they had breakfast, and they made something on the spot. Having not previously booked a tour, we asked the hotel and they were able to take us on a tour around Davao so that we were able to see everything that we had wanted to for a very reasonable price.

The room, while a little tiny was comfortable. It opened with an electronic key card, which we were not expecting. We had a very nice cable TV and AC in the room. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. The hotel had free wifi, which was very convenient. The shower had hot and cold water, although there was not a separate shower stall in the bathroom.

Overall, had a great stay and would highly recommend it. The owners were truly wonderful!

I went to Davao for more than four times and during my visits I stayed here twice at Piazza Luna. Don't be surprised if you happen to discover its cleanliness, lovely rooms, approachable/friendly people and most esp. its affordable price. Overall this hotel/dormitel is exemplary and a good value place to stay!

We booked two months in advance for 5 night but the hotel canceled reservation 6 weeks later (2 weeks before arriving...) and they proposed to book a more expensive room.
After complaining, management confirmed the original booking but when we checkin, we were very dispointed as the room doesnt fit the description : clean but tiny and darky.
When we do checkout, management asked me for 400 extra pesos because we booked at 11am instead of 2pm....

This hotel is by far one of the best ones i have been into. it had everything that i needed and wanted. There was an easy access to the Internet, they offered the best food in town, it was easily accessible to any place i want to go - gym, spa, parlor, university, malls, parks and it had an easy access to transportation. Interiorly, it has a modern design that will suit any mood and style. The rooms are spacious and it had large cupboards to put all your stuff in. And oh, the windows are sound-proofed, so you don't have to worry about the noise outside (not that it is noisy out there but if it's raining, etc, you won't be bothered at all). I pay particular attention with the toileting and bath and this hotel didn't fail me. They have a hot and cold shower for every room and the ventilation is really nice, it is not suffocating at all unlike other baths in some hotel do. If you need to know anything about the city, you can ask the reception and they will gladly help you with your needs and wants. And oh, this hotel is not just a hotel, it is also a dormitory. So if you want to stay there for a long time, you won't have to pay for the daily rate, you can go for the monthly one which is way cheaper. Indeed, I FOUND THE BEST COMFORT IN THIS HOTEL WHEN I WAS AWAY FROM HOME!

I am outmost critically inclined to cleanliness and the safety of the place where I stay specially when I travel wherever and whenever. Piazza Luna was definitely a cut above the rest. The service was very authentic and genuine since its a family owned business establishment. The staff helped me get around the beatiful city of Davao and what places needed to be visited since the offer day tours. The technology of this place is what also impressed me. For the price they offer, you wont even think that this establishment was meticulously high tech. Unmatched by even the big corporation owned hotels in town. From its perimeter and in house CCTV cameras, electronically card operated door knobs and electronically card operated elercrical systems of its guest rooms, high speed wifi and surround sound systems you couldnt expect anything else. I had a wonderful stay with Piazza Luna and it did make it on my to do list once i come back to the city of Davao. Thank you Piazza Luna.

Hi! My name is Prue Max. I am from Orlando, Florida.

I visited Davao City because I heard a lot of good things about it.

Since, I was just planning to stay for two to four days only; I decided not to stay in a 5 star hotel.

I browsed through this website; alas I found what I was looking for, a bed and breakfast named Piazza Luna Dormitel Davao.

I immediately booked unto their site, www.piazzalunadormitel.

To my amazement, it only took me about 5-10 minutes. What a breeze it was! :)

On the day that I arrived, it only took me 15 minutes to reach the Piazza Luna from the airport.

The first thing I noticed is that the building is beautifully made.

Inside, the feeling was homey. I felt at home at once.

The front desk officer, who happens to be the daughter of the owner, is warm and accommodating.

I was shown to my room with a complimentary bottle of water to boot.

Everything I had read and seen on the pictures, were true.

Their rooms are squeaky clean.

Amenities are excellent.

Hallways smelled like fresh flowers everyday.

Staffs were kind and helpful in anything you need.

The family was incredibly charming and wonderful.

They offer delicious complete meals at the most unbelievable affordable prize.

Their sumptuous and generous servings would surely melt your hunger away.

One time, I woke up starving, as I looked at my watch it was half past twelve.

I didn’t expect that they would be so nice to cater my needs even through an ungodly hour.

Laundry services were even offered with just a minimum fee.

They also offer tour packages at within your means. Amazingly great value if you travel by groups.

I truly relish the time I came to Davao City, stayed in Piazza Luna Dormitel and met the owners of the establishment!

To those of you who plans to have go here, IT WOULD TRULY BE WORTHY!

INEXPENSIVE yet SUPERB!

Piazza Luna Dormitel Davao, I would be definitely coming back! :)

My deepest gratitude to you guys!

This dormitel is not known and is not comparable to expensive 3 to 5 star Hotels. Surprisingly this newly built dormitel is worth your money. Very nice hospitality run by the family who owns it. Very clean. You will surely be comfortable of the security of your belongings. a couple of blocks away from the busy street which will make your stay quiet and relaxing after catching the beauty of the city. will be back.............

I stayed here last june for a wedding. I was surprised how far my money went. From their hi-tech key cards, CCTV's and beautiful clean rooms it feels like a 5 star hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I will surely recommend Piazza Luna to anybody who wants to enjoy and relax at a very affordable price.
