It was our first time in Davao City and the first thing I had to decide was the type of accommodation we will book.I though it would not be wise to go for an expensive hotel as we plan to explore the city and nearby Samal Island.I asked my friends and they immediately recommended Royale House Davao to us.It was a good decision.

With a room for 1,000php or less, you get to have all that you need of a decent but affordable accommodation. Soft bed, clean linens, spacious room, table and chair inside should you bring in food, cable tv, hot and cold shower, spacious closet, plus a complimentary set meal for breakfast. The set meal is basic but with this rate, what more can you ask for?

The receptionists were a little stiff, I thought they don't know how to smile, but I didn't mind.

The location is really good. It’s downtown with key interests all within a square mile. It’s also located on the street with major jeepney routes and is 15minutes away to the port where one can take the boat to lovely SAMAL ISLAND.

There are so many things to explore in Davao City and Samal Island that if it is your first time in the city, staying at an expensive hotel might not be a good idea.Royal House has all the basic comforts that you need. Cheap Accommodation without Sacrificing Comfort.

My 2 friends and i went to davao for a workshop seminar in Ateneo so we booked a room for 3 at the Royal house. There were 2 single beds and 1 double bed which were soft and comfortable. The sheets were clean. There was a cabinet for the clothes, hot &cold shower, tv, free breakfast with very good brewed coffee. We were basically okay with the room but some points of improvement are: Cr has wooden sliding door and cant be locked, staff are good but need more training in customer service (they need to smile more and be more accomodating if guests have questions but they were not rude though, maybe just inexperienced), Tiles in the Cr have minor stubborn stains (maybe bcoz the hotel is a bit old already). What they need to keep up is their excellent brewed coffee which comes with the breakfast. my friend also said the bibingka is commendable. If you are looking for a value for money hotel, the Royal house is the one.

Worst hotel ever the security is horrible. The hotel escorted some creepy guy to my room at 4am and I have no idea who that is. Don’t stay here!

Other than that the stay was pleasant but the staff is very difficult and they don’t prioritize guest safety

Worst customer service, constant water interruptions, very loud and weak aircon, and a lot more! If you're looking for the worst hotel at a high price, then THIS is definitely the place you're looking for!

If you are working on a budget but still want to get a good service, comfortable bed to sleep in, and want a location that is at the heart of the city, The Royale House is for you!

We stayed here last Dec 23-24 and Dec 27-28 of this year (2014). I made my reservations online (travelbook.ph) and was able to save more than 50% off the regular rates of the rooms (double standard). I was with my 2-yr old son and my husband. I am from Davao but is now residing in Cagayan de Oro. We were just home for Christmas. I had to find a place to stay because my family's place is too far from downtown. This time around, we opted to travel by land because we had plenty of stuff to bring but the primary reason was we didn't want to spend too much for the holidays.
Upon arrival, I just had to inform the front desk attendant that I had a reservation under my name and it was already paid for so everything was smooth.

The key to enjoy your stay is keep an open mind, ask relevant questions, and be calm. There was no water when we arrived at our room. It was explained to us why was that so and that was okay with us. We didn't really have to wait that long anyway because a few hours later, there was already water to use. Our reservation comes with a complimentary breakfast. The serving wasn't heavy which was just fine with us (at that time) but I know it won't work for everybody.

In my experience, here's what I can say about the following:

1. STAFF- polite, approachable, friendly, and attentive. Again, don't expect to be treated like royalty if you don't act like one. Don't be haughty. Ask nicely because they are not your servants. Be patient because you're not the only one they are attending to. If you can carry your own bags to your room, do so.

2. ROOM - clean and well-kept when we arrived. It's not too big in size but it worked fine with us. I was told to call the front desk should there be concerns in regards to our stay and that's what I did. There's no point whining when you can ask nicely to get something changed or whatnot.

3. BATHROOM- comes with a hot shower so that's definitely a 'yayy' for me. It was clean and there were soaps, tissues, and towels available. I just wished there was a floor mat right outside the bathroom door so that the bedroom floor won't get messy. You know how it is when you get out of shower, you can't perfectly find all wet spots to dry off especially so when you're in a hurry. It would be nice to have something to use to wipe off droplets of water, right?

4. LOBBY/RESTO- yes, there's a resto at the ground floor and I would say it was accommodating of the staff to let me meet with my sisters and college friends there. You don't have to order anything to be able to sit down and spend time catching up with family and friends. But what I like most about it really was that even with my 2-yr old running around the place playing catch with me or his daddy, they didn't give me the eye or worse, scolded him. It was like a normal scene for them. Therefore, if you're traveling with kids, The Royale House is child-friendly.

5. AVAILABILITY- by this, I mean the convenience of communicating your needs or contacting the hotel for anything. They have a mobile number (hooray!) and which you can call to confirm/cancel your reservation/s and for other concerns.

6. LOCATION- just at the heart of the city. There's BPI across the street, there's a convenience store outside the hotel, and it's basically surrounded with restaurants and fast food chains. The transportation is really easy.

I hope my next stay will be as good as my first... or even better!

Hope this review helps. The mobile # is: 63 999 888 360

First, I reserved for a ground floor room. when I got there I was informed it was given away. I was given a 3rd floor room. I thought that would be okay as long as there's a room. My bags were heavy so I asked for the elevator there was none! And the last straw that made me leave. I asked why there was no hot shower as advertised, answer: it's Royal house policy to turn off the heater at 10pm

Pros:
1. Location - easy accessibility to places in downtown.
2. Prices affordable
3. Free breakfast

Cons:
1. Ended going into three rooms for 1st room with faulty bathroom ceiling, 2nd room with pubic hair on bed sheets, 3rd room was with wet marks in the middle of the bed (use your imagination folks-yikes!). Was toooooo tired to transfer anywhere else so just had the staff replace linens...bad decision on my part especially in the morning when I realized that there were used condoms on the head part of the bed.
2. Staff did not even try to correct or amend the situation!!!

Final evaluation: enter at your own risk!!!

I stayed in this hotel for four nights. Upon checking in, I noticed that I had been placed in a room right next to the street. It was really noisy- which is no fault of the hotel. I request to be moved to a different room and they obliged. Upon being lived, it was still SO NOISY; not from traffic, but from Staff and other guest. It is like being in an aluminum can where every tiny sound echoes. The mattresses were dirty, the shower leaked, there was no complimentary water given. On the second night, staff knocked in my door at 11 PM to ask how long my stay would be? 11 PM!I wouldn’t ever stay again.
