Old, appealing, charming, small but cosy, peaceful and quiet
Very spacious rooms, good for families. Sofa bed mattress. Kitchenette; no kitchenware but the management with gladly assist all your needs upon request.
Beachfront, no beach but beautiful ocean views.
We requested an electric kettle which was happily provided.
Don't mind the distance from hotel to Lanang road, for peace and tranquility awaits you here.
Food was great with generous servings and also generous servers.
If it wasn't for the old dilapidated fixtures falling apart everywhere in the room I'd have given it 5 ratings. The management should take necessary measures to fix the room.
Most taxis wouldn't know the place 'lizada village' so tell them it's beside Davao beach club

There are too many signs of lack of maintenance in our room .We began to undertake minor repairs ourselves as the staff seems to have other things to do. It seems the main business plan of the hotel is to cater to large functions like weddings and parties etc The kitchen faucet is loose and water drains directly into the cabinet creating a strong smell of mould. The comforter has many stains on the underside. The good, the room is large and bright , it has a balcony overlooking the pool area and samal island. Also I forgot to mention the parties are very loud and go on long past midnight , we are heavy sleepers so we could deal with it. Its a nice hotel that is not too well managed and poorly maintained , the pool is often dirty the whirlpool is only turned on for the functions the staff are polite but we had to ask for housekeeping on our third day. Out front the main water feature is out of order and full of stagnant water, the patio bricks overgrown with weeds and suffering major decay . I cleaned my own room bought my own broom and toilet paper and it just seems to me that renting rooms is a secondary business for this hotel

we were a group of more than 20 people (mostly family members) and stayed at chateau del mar from apr 26 to 30 to attend a wedding at the waterfront insular hotel. we were surprised to know that we didn't have to commute anymore to reach the wedding venue as we just have to pass thru a gate that adjoins chateau del mar to the waterfront insular hotel.
all rooms are spacious that even 7 or 8 persons can fit into the room, plus each room has its own kitchenette. airconditioning though isn't quite enough for the room, or may be it was just because it was at the peak of the summer when we stayed there. there's also that offer of free breakfast for 2 persons in every room. swimming pool is situated in the more private area of the grounds overlooking the Davao gulf and the Samal island across. staff is friendly especially Gemma & Sol (thank u for ur hospitality, ladies). there's also that free "sundo" from the airport to the chateau. in short, it was a comfortable place to stay...a bit far from the city, but very close to nature. price is just right for the budget.
an aircon or even just an electric fan at the visitors' lounge cum front desk area will be most welcome for the guests while waiting for taxi to arrive.

It was our second time staying at this hotel and it didn’t disappoint!
We spent Thanksgiving night there since we were meeting up with family for dinner!
It was a comfortable and restful night, the day after that, we had a cruise leaving from Miami at 3 pm and the manager gave us a late check out so we could rest a bit more before our trip.
We’ll definitely be back!!

The decision to book this hotel was under the pressure of the Easter holidays, there was basically no other property available in this area for a short stay of 3 nights, so we had no other choice than taking the chance and giving the hotel the opportunity to show that the reviews are not reality.

The premises is run down, cannot evaluate when the management has done any maintenance, the furniture and beds are Stone Age and would need complete refurbishment, same with basically all in the room including the bathroom, one has a hard time to get wet under the shower as the water pressure is non existence.

You are looking for a nice dinner witch a nice bottle of wine? There is no wine and only 2 kinds of beer available and definitely not the one you are looking for; the "bar" is a corner with 2 fridges with some cokes, sprite and a beer that nobody wants; a whiskey or gin, Bailey? There is nothing available, the specification of bar is completely out of context.

The menu of Chateau del Mar - in English castle, reminds on a street food corner in Bangkok where you eat for 3 usd - the prices however are equal to any nice restaurant in Davao, many of it is not available ( similar to the "beverage assortment") - one gets the impression they don't have the money to buy; asked already after the first breakfast to speak to the manager or owner, never happened.

There was a seminar group in the hotel while we checked in, as a result thee was never a table for us available, we got served always the very last, the team was simply overwhelmed wit he work load, also nobody of the team would help the others, the reception ladies were hiding in their office, didn't care, the last evening we were waiting 1.5 hours to get our dinner even though the seminar group was already gone and I guess there were maybe only 2 rooms in the hotel left.

The problem is that one has basically no alternative as there is nothing around this hotel, so one is depending on their services. Also the pool has no pool chairs - we we're told yes in the beginning we had but now not anymore.

Cannot recommend to anybody to visit this place, the management and the team don't know what hospitality means and is about, we definitely will not return, that's for sure.

This had been a much awaited return at this hotel. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Life would be whole lot easier if you overlook a few things here and there. Like the clogged kitchen and bathroom sinks or the exhausted interior and exteriors including worn out room fixtures and furniture and bathroom wares. So was expected, as was experienced before and read over the years. Nothing changed and that's consistency. Our room was found clean with fresh linens. Electric kettle provided on request. Scrumptious breakfast each morning and traditional Filipino styled tasty meals at lunch and dinner. What more do you need?
And let's not forget the beautiful ocean & Samal island view right outside your balcony. Just step outside and breathe that untainted ocean breeze with the ever so calming green and blue. I can overlook all the negatives of this hotel to that.

I stayed here for 2nights, on my way to Pearl Farm Resort. Very convenient- the dock to Pearl Farm's boat ride is really right next door. My boat ride was scheduled at 730am and we left Chateu at 7:25am... it's that close. The hotel is equipped with all amenities, it is a boutique hotel equipped with an elevator, outdoor swimming pool, bar at the pool area. The accommodations includes breakfast and if you stay at the suites, the room will even include a kitchen, dining area and sitting area. The sunset and sunrise from the balcony is beautiful. The rooms are very clean, bed was comfortable, rooms have AC, restroom was clean equipped with a shower area. Service was dleightful.Front desk was always helpful, assisted in ordering dinner for delivery, will bring morning coffee as soon as you call, can schedule breakfast to be brought inside the room and you can have breakfast in your balcony. I'll actually stay here again when visting Davao.

When I spent a month's vacation in Davao City in August, I stayed in Chateau Del Mar Resort & Spa. The accommodation and the service was top-notch, daily breakfast for 2 people were included, and they were very accommodating with special requests for additional bed(s) for my visiting nephews and nieces and brothers and sisters. It's ideally located near the beach so it was very convenient for long morning walks along the beach right outside the hotel. The owner and the hotel staff were very hospitable, polite, and very friendly. I would stay there again when I go to Davao in the near future.

If you want a quiet and affordable place away from the city then this is your place. Located in between Waterfront Insular and Pearl Farms docking area. Fronting Samal Island. Easy check -in and out. Free breakfast was good, it is a plated your everyday silog combi. Room was spacious just like a studio condo with small kitchen and dinning area. If renovated with fresh paint and modern linen..this place will rock it! They provide airport pick-up which was a highlight for me. Good enough hotel for it's price.
