from the time you arrive till you leave the service is great sometimes a little slow around the pool bar when busy but generally good. The rooms vary in price as does the standard. The location is a bit out of the way but with shuttle service this not a big problem and trikes everywhere as well. The best is around the pool cold beer good food great staff ,footy horse racing all for your amusement ,because the hotel is not on the main roads it is quite. The least thing I like is leaving good friends that you make there.

One night stop over for a flight out of Clark. The room was big and clean. Everything I needed. Security box at the front desk. Free van into town and pickup before midnight. Food was good. I didn't swim, but the pool looked nice. Better room and lower price than its Manila counterpart. They could/would not arrange for a taxi in the morning, but instead arranged a private car. I always prefer meter in the Philippines.

I first stayed at this hotel many years ago, and it has always had a very good restaurant and pool area on the left hand side of the street. The only accommodation used to be on the right hand side of the street and it was even a bit tired twenty years ago, but a new extension has changed that signicantly so when you book these days ask for a resort room, they are brand new and very spacious, some with spas and very cool, The new rooms are on the poolside and adjacent to the restaurant which offers great food at reasonable prices all day long with daily themed specials and filipino favourites. They also have live music, bingo on Sundays is a great opportunity to mix with the locals, continuous sport from around the world and the Australian races broadcast every Saturday. Head barman Joaquin is a wealth of information, and they have a tuk-tuk that does transfers all day from the hotel ton Fields Avenue and SM Mall. It's easy to get to by 'Fly the Bus' from Swagman Manila is very reasonably priced and has transfers to Subic and La Union available from the hotel. They even have a travel centre to book your daily excursions or ongoing journey. I now use it regularly as a stopover on my way to and from Ilocos Sur.

Price is ok, but the standard room is a black hole in the cellar, has a window, but no daylight. Swagman is at the end of town. They compensate it with a free transfer to fiels avenue, but on the way back you must take tricycle P100, if you don't have a phone.
Worst: They try to trickle extra money out of you. In my case they told me, the towel is too dirty and they can not get it clean by washing. I bought washing powder and washed it. It became cleaner than the others. Now they complained it would be torn, but for the age of towel I am not responsible. Nasty people.

I have stay at this hotel several times in the past, but the last two years it is BAD. I return this year looking for better service and room but I was wrong. This hotel is old and run down but the service was always great, NOT THIS YEAR. Little things fixed here and there but only cosmetic cover up. . The stench gets in every time the door is opened on that end of the building. It is sometimes more than I could take. I stayed there because that was not a problem 20 years ago. Moving on, the wifi works good in some of the rooms but not all. So if important, get the password and go inside the the room they offer and check it first. Also check the hot water. If you are already there and you lose hot water, tell them to turn it back on. They will turn it off and will leave it off until you complain. But, they flip a switch and bingo, you have good hot water. The TV's in the cheap rooms are old CRT models but work fine. The girls been there for years and I guest that they loss that friendly touch. But most important , the air CON is bad, hot during the night and front desk do not help.

Having been to the Swagman over a number of years I found that it is time for the owner/s to upgrade their main rooms away from the Pool side area. The rooms lack functional facilities at times. Many of the comfort rooms have taps that are not fitted correctly some swivel when turning on the tap, most rooms and comfort room are dated and need a clean look with a paint up or refurbishment of new tiles.
Pillows and bedding are basic due to lack of quality.
Toilets pool side is in a state of repair due to leaking, no seats on the bowel, toilet paper holders missing. Lack of soap in the holders or lack of soap bar on the sink units. No spray hose facilities for washing the posterior. The long bar by the pool table has electrical socket fitting falling off exposing live wires to children who plug their cell phones and tablets in to them which may give them an electrical shock.
I would be willing to pay extra if the rooms were upgraded and a more modern look to all facilities provided in the rooms non poolside.
All staff are very polite from front desk to the bar staff and the kitchen staff. They set out to make you feel welcome. The food is very good, ranging from Thai, Indian, traditional Australian and English foods.
The bar area and pool is very pleasing and has a nice ambience to the place.
The Swagman is set in a nice quite area no traffic and easy assessable to the main highway and walking distance to Fields and Friendship avenues. The hotel provides free transport to and from Fields and friendship avenues
It’ seem the owner/s have a suicide bid to see that the place may lose many of its regular visitors and customers whereby they take the attitude anything will do for now and that while the Pool side rooms and apartments are bringing in customers they lack the will or motivation to upgrade the main none poolside rooms.
There is great potential for this place ideally situated away from the hustle and bustle of Fields and Friendship Avenue. Please Swagman don’t t be left behind in the entertainment and accommodation facilities ratings. It would be sad to see this place close.

My wife and stayed at this hotel originally when there was a military uprising during the fist years of arroyo government,on this occasion we had been at the holiday inn at Clark when we where all going to boracay but our plans where suddenly change in the family so we had to settle for swagman Balibago,it appeared that nothing had improved the price was still low.I would only recommend it for emergency only not for long stays.

I first stayed there when the floods were happening when rooms behind the hotel got flushed away and the Koala hotel was closed for months. The pool was full of mud... That was in 2008 July I think. Anyway I would highly recommend it to anyone on their first stay. Rooms very average, but food is great...Try the mango and banana shake there.. Very friendly staff there relying on tips to bulk up their wages.. I heard i is no longer owned by an Aussie guy and is now owned by Chinese.. Knowing Chinese they wont spend anything on the place and quality will diminish. Didn't get to visit it when i was in Angeles one month ago, but I do have good memories from there and it has a special island feel about it.

To me this hotel is ok , so many memories , this is the hotel where l met my lovely wife Josie in 1990, we have been married for 25 years , my wife is a wonderful person, always looking after me , we had such a great time staying here in 1990, 1991, 1992. The Swagman manager, Dave Donney a very nice person. Our last trip to the Philippines , was in 2015, we met Ray the Swagman manager, also, very nice person , we will be coming to the Philippines in August 2018, and will stay at the Swagman for maybe a week, for my wife's reunion, with friends she worked with in Angeles City in 1990, we will then go to Negros, to see the family. We still have all the photos of the Swagman staff taken in 1990. All the best regards to all the Angeles City staff, we will see you all in August 2018. Regards , Ray H.

10 years ago the hotel restaurant was the best on Luzon. I feel so sorry for Ray the temp manager he is so kind and helpful but his hands are tied by the management. The food is crap! They dont know the difference between french fries or chip, its pot luck what you get. Many of the new staff cant speak English. A waitress made 5 mistakes serving me a small portion of fries. From no place mat to no cutlery. DO NOT DRINK WATER FROM YOUR ROOM SUPPLY go to the bar as they buy water in for the bar. The accommodation still has reasonable cheap rooms (the underground rooms have gone due to flood damage. The best rooms are new and situated around the pool but I will never go there again due to the terrible food
