No windows in the room (twin). Very musty smell. No air-con in lobby/communal area. Wi-Fi only worked in lobby. Showers and toilets need a good clean - terrible smell due to no ventilation. Lots of random (Not guests) in lobby hanging about. Good location. Basic breakfast.

The staff were very polite and accommodating. Near the reception are lots of recommendations on what to explore in Manila/Philippines. There were lots of backpackers during my stay but I was not...

Share bathroom for both F and M. We stayed in a 4 beds room, bunk-bed too weak and old. Outside, they watched TV untill 11:00 PM with loud volume so we had to remind. When turn down the volume they kept talking, laughing out loud. Good location. Free breakfast with bread, jam, coffee, juice. We could put our luggages at...

Been here with my boyfriend and stayed for 3 nights. One of the best hostel I've ever been. Staff: super accomodating. The lady in the front desk is super nice and helpful. She made us feel at home. Always there to help and to answer our questions. We would love to see her again when we go back next year....

First, with the horrible Manila traffic it took over an hour to get there at 11 am! It was hard to find and the area is a poor dirty and unsafe looking area. The staff was rude and uncaring upon check in. The room felt like an Alcatraz Jail cell. Walls were crumbling, tiny rooms, common area was a 10x10...

Location is perfect - only took less than an hour travel from/to the Airport. Breakfast is okay - nothing special but appreciated. Bed is okay - Foam and Pillow are comfy but the only problem is I'm at the top of the double deck bed - so I felt a lot of movements or it's a quake bed. Showers and...

NOT RECOMMENDED. The pictures are deceptive. The rooms are no where close to what it looks in the pictures. There is a weird smell when you enter the hostel. The reception is cramped and the common area is too small. Our room had a weird smell, the side wall was damp. Paint was chipping off the wall and it had...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
MNL Boutique Hostel is a project of backpackers and well traveled friends that aims to showcase Filipino culture and hospitality in a clean, wholesome and welcoming environment. At MNL, we make sure that when you visit, it's like coming home to an old friend or reconnecting with a family member. We like sharing our stories and we'd also love to hear yours too -- perhaps over a cold bottle of San Miguel Beer.We believe that there is more to Manila than just a jump off point to the islands, that's why we make it a point to give our guests a memorable experience at the hostel. We added a "boutique" to our name because we believe that traveling on a budget does not mean that you have to let go of your comforts. At the same time, art pieces at the hostel depict a story that is truly Filipino -- from pop icons and national heroes to pieces of furniture to hand woven blankets by indigenous tribes.Lastly, we believe that there is nothing more comforting for a traveler in a foreign land than to meet a fellow traveler or to link with a local with the same interests. More than just a place to sleep, this camaraderie is what we build at MNL. ... more   less
