Pros:
+ Comfortable bed, pillow, quilt
+ Clean bathroom
+ Nice room decor, feels more spacious than it looks
+ Central location

Cons:
- Poor breakfast. Breakfast was included in the rate but we could only choose one dish and a drink. Depending on what you choose, it could be a hit or miss. The signature cheese and honey toast that i chose had nothing signature about it - two pieces of dry and hard slabbed together. Hot choc was essentially Milo powder. You’re probably better off eating at one of the eateries outside.

This is a beautiful island to visit. People are friendly. I recommend not just visit Puraran Beach or Twin Rock but also go for a little adventure. Visit the Binorong Point, Abihao, and especially little twin town Putsan and Danao fishing villages. During low tide you can walk on sea bed from these two twin town to Sulla and the main town Baras. Or adventure to the lush and bountiful Mangrove forest in Paniquihan. Go rent a banka and you will discover some caves and more undiscovered beaches around the bend of Danao. You can reach this twin town from Baras via colourful banca, five pesos fare in just ten minutes or via paved road using a tricycle or your own vehicle. People are friendly, hospitable and happy. It is sad to note that several people I talked to in Virac, the capital city of the island, does not know this twin town. Needless to say, this twin town ADDS to why catanduanes is such a Happy Island!

I booked for 4 nights in the hotel when i was in Manila. I had some important errands at the embassy in Manila that I had to process and finish back then.

Upon arriving at hotel they need some documents that should be submitted at the reception.
During the check-in process i requested a room on the higher floor and Mark gave me a room on the 12th floor with an awesome city view.

I had a junior private room facing power plant in rockwell.
Room was spacious and clean. The bathroom is kinda small but it's okay.
However, their wifi needs to be improve, sometimes it's really non-existence. It’s really slow so might be better off using your own cellular data roaming.

The staff were very helpful and kind especially to Jonsonn of Housekeeping and Mark of the Guest Services for my requests, help and assistance. In general, it’s all good.

Ciao! I'll definitely be back soon, till next time. Thank you!

The Lub D Hotel hostel is an old building located on Makati Avenue a short walk from the red light district and bars.

The reception is up on the second floor and the staff there are quite friendly and helpful.

The rooms are fairly old and rather drab, and they have tea and coffee making facilities, a small safe, free bottled water and they useless bar fridge without any thermostat adjustment and the coer temp is no different to the room temperature so it's an absolute waste of time and money.

There is no bed base it is two single mattresses pushed together to make a bed on a raised wooden floor and the beds are quite lumpy and uncomfortable. The pillows are also old a little lumpy and need replacing.

There is no real soundproofing or double glazing on the windows and you can hear all the construction work going on outside which will continue for a couple of years at least.

The bathroom and shower very small and the water pressure is average at best and the shower rose leaks badly.

There is a small Samsung TV on the wall probably a 32-in and it has some cable channels with a reasonable selection of English speaking channels just a pity the TV isn't a reasonable size.

The rooms have very tall ceilings and the air conditioning works reasonably well but the exterior noise from bars, clubs and during the day from construction work make it difficult to sleep unless you are a heavy sleeper you would have a problem sleeping here.

The rooftop bar and dining area is quite large with some really good views across Makati and Manila. They have a happy hour on from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. but onlyn2 drinks offers are available during the happy hour and the staff at the rooftop are quite friendly and welcoming and if the place was busy could see this having quite a good Vibe to it but it was very quiet while I was here.

Housekeeping well that was a joke and just doesn't exist. They never came to clean or make-up my room and they never replaced any towels or anything throughout my stay. 0 out of 10 on the housekeeping.

Absolutely loved the modern and clean design of the room and the bathroom, the great customer service, the fact that there were lots of outlets in the room, the mini fridge and hairdryer, the dispensers for shampoo and soap (minimizing plastic waste!), the rooftop bar, and the water dispenser on my floor near the elevators. Poblacion, Rockwell, Burgos, and even the CBD are just a short walk away.

Although I was placed in one of the quieter rooms of the hostel, the soundproofing still had some issues as I could hear the mass at the church outside and the sound of the TV in the room beside mine. It was good that the aircon was a bit loud as it was able to slightly drown out the noise of the TV. Although the towels smelled freshly laundered, they didn't look super clean as they were old and have been used over and over before. The double bed was two mattresses together, which would be uncomfortable if you liked rolling around the bed. I just chose which side I was going to sleep on (one of the mattresses was not as firm as the other one).

Manila is the first place we have visited to begin our three month travelling trip.
When arriving at Lub D check in was quick and we went straight up to our room. The room itself is nicely decorated but the bathroom wasn’t overly clean - there were hairs in our shower.
The roof top bar is great at night and loved the service but I found it expensive so we didn’t eat there again. The view though is amazing !!
The lobby is a great place to chill out in and the only place with decent wifi.
They have a board in the lobby that tells you different things that go on throughout the week. We were really excited because on Saturday night it said a bar crawl starting at the hotel - we thought this would be a great thing to do to meet people. When we asked at reception they said it was only us two that were interested in it so they weren’t doing it. If you didn’t look at the board you wouldn’t know anything about it ? I think if the staff made an effort to get people on coming then it could of been a really good night.
Overall this hotel was perfect for our first few days on our travels - now we’re looking forward to getting out of the city and staying in a much more sociable hotel / hostel.

3 nights. The rooms are compact and tidy. Strong Wi-Fi. No heater in the shower but water isn't super cold. AC is really strong. The bed is low seated but elevated from the rest of the room. Toilet had a bidet with adjustable strength. You have to go to the community room if you want to work because there isn't a desk in the room (unless you're comfortable working in bed, like me). I'd say the biggest highlight is the free breakfast, which includes a coffee (and only 30 pesos extra for each coffee). We stayed 3 nights and tried all 6 breakfast options. We both agree that the adobo is fire and probably the best value and quality. Pancakes are good if you're feeling something sweet. Location is close to everything. I'm a runner and just walked down to the Ayala triangles, there's about a 3/4 mile loop with no traffic and lots of shade.

My only two gripes: we had to ask 4 times for extra towels for the floor. Also, the king bed was just two twins pushed together and it was very noticeable, would definitely recommend a king mattress pad to cover that gap up.

I recently stayed at Lub d Makati and found it to be very accessible, although a bit far from the airport. The check-in process was quick, but be aware that late checkout does come with an additional cost.

I stayed in the female dormitory, which was both trendy and comfortable. There's a cupboard for luggage storage (bring your own padlock for security), and each overhead bed has a small cabinet for personal items (again, bring an extra padlock).

The Wi-Fi was excellent, and the shared shower and toilet facilities were clean and offered both hot and cold water options. A bonus was the free use of the washing machine (just buy your own detergent).

The staff was okay, although they didn't knock before entering the dormitory room, which might be their standard practice.

Overall, I highly recommend Lub d Makati if you're on a budget. It offers great value for the price.

During my recent stay at Lub D Makati, I found it to be an excellent choice for those who can work from anywhere. The staff was not only friendly but also incredibly helpful, enhancing the overall experience.

The room's cleanliness was impressive, creating a comfortable and well-maintained space. Its central location provided easy access to shops, restaurants, and the city center, making exploration and convenience a breeze.

While the private room reservation lacked a toothbrush and toothpaste, the positive aspects of the stay overshadowed this minor inconvenience. It's worth suggesting including these essentials for future guest comfort.

However, it's important to note that the TV in my room wasn't functioning during the stay. Despite this small setback, the numerous other attractions and amenities compensated for the inconvenience.

In summary, Lub D Makati is highly recommended for digital nomads, budget-conscious travelers, groups of friends, and families. It offers a warm and accommodating environment with a perfect balance of comfort and accessibility.

I am a long staying guest here for my language classes in Makati. I have always loved staying here as I consider this hostel as my home, away from home. The location is accessible to my school, restaurants, convenient stores and church. It is always easy to go around the area and checking in/out with the reception desk (Ms. Syrene) has never been a hassle. I commend her efficiency! It feels comfortable doing my school works in the lobby area, with f&b staff (Sir Josh) and FO manager (Ms. Jo) always ready to assist with their smile. Most importantly, I love how well maintained the room, my bed and comfort rooms are. The bed and linens are clean and good to sleep at, and the room ventilation smells good. The rest of the staff in the Essential Goodness at the Pilgrims (Sir Ninoy, Chef RJ, Sir Whilbur) are amazing! I like it when there are a lot of fun activities and events here, it gives me chance to meet and have fun with other travellers. Likewise, Sir Oliver and Ms. Ice always ensure that I am doing okay. Super thanks to Ms. Jo for the flexibilty in my room requests and ammendments. I look forward of staying here for the next days of my studies. Congratulations to the management and whole team! Kudos to you guys!
