Detailed Reviews
It's an old time motel, which we love. The room itself is updated. The bathroom is not; however, the entire unit was very clean. You get your own carport. The room we were assigned had a small carport so we could not park in it, but we did use the table and chairs assigned to our unit. The staff was really nice. We would definitely go back.

There's absolutely nothing good to say about this motel. It is the worst I've ever stayed in in my 70 years. It is run down and needs lots of repairs. The door to the room stuck so badly it was difficult to close and lock. In the three nights we stayed there our room was never cleaned.

On the last night of a road trip we did not have reservations and several hotels in the area had no vacancy. We saw Whispering Winds along the highway and stopped to check it out and were pleasantly surprised! An older motel that was quite up to date inside: clean, quiet, friendly owner and staff. A light breakfast was included and we had a wonderful time chatting with other guests and the owner. A true treasure, good luck in the future!

Very Dated! The room was not prepared just before our arrival as a Mouse had eaten part of a granola bar that was left for condiments for purchase. There were people in the a joining room with a dog that scratched at our door and whined all night! The owner didn't seem to care and her response was "You should of told me and I would of moved you" Probably true at 3:00AM ? Um NO! You should of NOT put people next to each other that have animals especially when your Motel is not full! Also when you have Guests staying more than one night you should have house keeping leave more than one wash cloth and one towel! Once again it was late as we had a Family Wedding and got back to the Motel late! Pool? Nope it didn't even look like it was even opened as there was a cover on the pump! They also say they DO Not bill your Credit Card till you get there,FALSE they billed it first thing in the morning! This Review is a "Heads Up" so you can be prepared and Move On!

This place has seen better days. It was smelly, the floors were filthy, there was no water pressure, and while the drive in carports are quaint, you can’t ignore the overall rundown conditions. We also had a UHaul truck park right in front of our room (which was not the room I reserved), which blocked our view and made for some noisy neighbors. I thought my days of dive motels were over. I was wrong.

It was a pleasure to spend a night at the Whispering Winds Motel. I was invited to attend a wedding at the Sherwood Inn in Skaneteles and did not want to pay the $185/- plus tax for one night. I was fortunate to find the Whispering Winds motel on the internet within close proximity of the Sherwood Inn. I was warmly greeted by Jennifer at the office. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room with two double queen size beds. The room was large, very clean and had all the amenities one would need for a comfortable stay including Wi-Fi. Each room has a covered car port attached where one can drive the car and park adjacent to the entrance of the room. This is a plus in inclement weather. There is a swimming pool and there is ample place to sit outdoors and relax in a pleasant environment. After a comfortable night's rest I stopped into the office where I was greeted by Gina who gave me a description of the wineries I could visit and other sights that I should see. A continental breakfast is provided. The motel is approximately four minutes from downtown Skaneteles Lake and within close proximity of several wineries. The motel is very clean, reasonable and above all both Jennifer and Gina were helpful and welcoming hosts.

The perfect Fingerlakes getaway! From the moment I opened my room to the chocolate chip muffins awaiting me in the morning- everything about this stay was great! Having seen the motel before its refreshing update, I was incredibly impressed with all the work that had been put into it. My room was clean and charming...and the beds- I could have slept all weekend!
The staff was more than willing to assist us in finding transportation after dinner and drinks in the beautiful village of Skaneateles- and even a wake up call in the morning!
We will certainly be back to lounge by the beautiful pool in the summer.
Keep up the great work Whispering Winds!

What a cute, comfortable spot close to downtown! Stayed one night while in town for a family event and it was perfect. Each room has a carport with table and chairs outside, great for enjoying morning coffee. The rooms were nice and cool from the AC unit and the beds and linens incredibly comfortable. Very clean. Spacious. Such a cozy place. Bathroom amenities and plush towels. Fruit and coffee in the morning. Lots of charm. Definitely a hidden gem that I would highly recommend!

Nice room, super friendly. Older motel well maintained and as clean as any of thousands of motels I hVae ever stayed at. AC was pretty loud but understand its hard to be a Mom and Pop and perfect. Staff were super friendly as were the others customers. They attract a very good clientel you wont mind being next door too.

Whispering winds was a last resort as all hotels were booked for syracuse university graduation. However, that being said,we found the Whispering Winds pretty nice as we were pleasantly surprised at the accomodations. It was clean, neatly decorated, had a Continental breakfast included. Jennifer, the manager, was very friendly.
One caveat. Check the website address with the office as it was listed incorrectly. All in all, it was a good accomodations for our visit. More like an Inn than a motel.
