We stayed in this hotel for a night. I was a bit worried about this hotel as we booked at the last moment. Also, when we reached the hotel very early in the morning (around 530am), the hotel door was locked and we had to ring the bell for the receptionist to come and open the gate. But we were pleasantly surprised with the overall quality and the service we got from this hotel. They allowed us to leave our luggage with them before we went to the all-day Lake Titicaca trip. When we came back in the evening to check in, they actually gave us 2 separate rooms for the price of one that we booked since their quad room was not available (for me, my wife, and our 2 boys). Their customer service was excellent, and their free breakfast was pretty good. We highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is old and worn out. All the furniture appeared to be coming from the 1980s. The carpet was torn and dusty. The bath towels were supposed to be white but have turned grey. There were dust and moulds accumulated at the filter of the hair dryer. The hot water tap of the shower was loose; the water temperature fluctuated without moving the tap; worst still, the hot water tap was burning hot and I burnt my finger when I turned it off. To be honest, the staff was helpful but they could only understand simple english. For instance, when I complained about the hot water tap, the staff thought that I did not know how to use the hot and cold water and tried to teach me. When I asked for another hair dryer, the staff showed me one which was only slightly cleaner than the one in my room. Eventually, I was given one which appeared to be slightly cleaner than the current one. If the upgraded versions of G adventures are of such appalling standard, what is being offered to be standard ones?…
We stayed at the Casona Plaza Hotel during a 10-day Andes Tour with Kaypi Tours. It's located close to the main plaza which was under construction/renovation during our visit, as well as restaurants. It's in an intersection which can get noisy in our room that was on the corner. It was quite cold in Puno during our visit, and we had to make sure our bathroom door was closed in order the keep the heat in our room that came from the wall unit. The bathroom had a slatted glass window that allowed the cold air to get in. There were extra blankets in the room to help stay warm as well. The staff is very friendly and multilingual. The front desk was nimble to switch from Spanish to English to French. They were helpful with directions and recommendations as well. The coca tea and leaves were plentiful, and I even saw a girl on an oxygen tank who wasn't faring well with the altitude. The included breakfast is fairly typical, catering to American and European tastes with different breads, meats, cheese, fruits. They stood out from our other hotels because of their made-to-order egg station. I don't think they did omelets, as all I ordered was fried eggs for me and scrambled eggs for my husband. But nonetheless a nice touch as it was warm off the pan. Overall this place is a good option as we only stayed there one night before leaving for Amantani Island for an overnight stay there, then spent another night after coming back before heading to Cusco.…
I was here with a tour and we realized there's two hotels with the same name in Puno so be careful! This one was very nice, with big, clean rooms and close to the main street. They also have laundry services.
The location is perfect. The hotel is clean and the front desk is helpful. There is coffee and tea all day. Itbis a bit noisy as the room doors are quite thin. The breakfast is until 9am and it is very good!! If you go early it is fine but if you go around 8:15am, some food is already over. They offeru another option but what you got yesterday, if today is over, you have to wait until tomorrow. Overall is a good choice!
