Detailed Reviews
I stayed at the Cross-roads for a night and ended up not wanting to leave. Friendly staff, nice setting and the views were spectacular. The pool was the highlight for me. Very refreshing and therapeutic too with the mountain views and green grass like carpets in nature.
Only hiccup was the flat screen did not work, other than that, I fell in love with Cross roads and will be staying there more often on my business trips to Lae.

Had a last minute trip to Lae and decided to give this new hotel a go.
It was the perfect location from where I was working, which kept the time on the road to a minimum. The whole estate seems to be maintained to the highest quality, with fresh flowers and groomed lawns and trees.
The hotel itself was very clean and had a comfortable room, with everything you need for a good night's stay.
I would highly recommend.

+1
I work in Lae on a fly-in, fly-out basis, staying in a small house adjacent to the Crossroads Transit Hotel. While the house has all the amenities one needs, working 12 hour days does not entice you to cook dinner.
The Crossroads has a small bar, named as the Puk Puk Bar, which serves meals, engineered in the Hotel's restaurant. I have eaten there many times, with dishes ranging from Chicken Parmigiana, potato wedges, stir-fried veges, curries, and a variety of other dishes. They even used to have a Vietnamese Banh Mi on the menu, but fortunately that has disappeared (charging $15 for something that costs less than a dollar on the streets of Ha Noi). Which brings me to my point: there is no rationale to the pricing of each dish on the menu; all dishes range from PGK40 - PGK45 per dish, irrespective of the cost.
Notwithstanding, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the food actually tastes ok. And the only options are to drive 10 miles to town if you want something to eat.

Travelers be warned. The hotel will still charge you for the room even if you already paid for the room in full through a third party like Expedia. The Hotel does not care if you paid for the room twice, they will get their money from Expedia and you. And they will not give you a refund no matter how much proof you have. Thats just greedy. Will not have any of my people stay there. The place is now off limits.

My recent stay at the Crossroads Hotel Lae was unfortunately a disappointing experience. The hotel's facilities, particularly the rooms, appeared outdated and lacked proper maintenance.
The restaurant service was particularly frustrating. Some staff members exhibited a lack of professionalism and courtesy, especially when taking orders. Additionally, there were frequent instances of empty plates and bottles sitting on the table without staff checking and you had to take your orders yourselves.
The limited menu options and the absence of a complimentary breakfast were further drawbacks. Overall, the hotel's service standards need significant improvement to meet the expectations of its guests.
Also, I was disturbed by the unprofessional behavior of some staff members who seemed overly interested in guests' personal lives. This intrusive behavior is unacceptable and creates an uncomfortable atmosphere.
Crossroads Hotel Lae should prioritize staff training to improve their hospitality skills and ensure a more pleasant experience for all guests. Also, English is very important for the waitress as they always get it wrong when taking orders.

My first visit to Papua. Stayed for 5 nights in February 2018.
The poolside rooms give the best view. I do not have previous reference but seeing the mountain in the morning and in the evening is really soothing experience.
Buffet is adequate. Nothing to shout but given the choice of going on 10-minute trip to town or having your meal in the hotel - no brainer.
I sleep early. Having my room near the pool bar is not a good idea as the ding is quite loud. Those who like quiet night could ask for rooms further from the pool bar.
Staff are friendly and helpful. WiFi password changes every day. Signal is good.

Hotel was clean and tidy, with well kept rooms. There were a few little things, but honestly I can easily look beyond that, with the FANTASTIC service from Newman, Adam and the team at the hotel. We will now have a home for our regular visits to Lae.
Newman & Adam went out of their way to assist us in arranging a car at the last minute, and, Amos our driver was 1st rate.
Food at the restaurant was very good for PNG, although there was quite a long wait. Still, the food was nice, with large portions for a great price....
24hr Gym is well equiped, and a large nice CLEAN pool...

For an expensive Hotel this is very average, but having said that choices are limited
Booking was handled by my Company, and check in was fast and efficient, room pretty average, has a panic alarm above the bed i guess in case of intruders !! ??
Few things in the room i was unclear with, so asked the numerous staff milling around outside the room in the corridor, none were even remotely interested in helping, just said "Call Reception"
Only there for 3 nights, Bed was comfy and the air conditioning worked ok, food was average but acceptable.

OK your staying out of town. But the new road is good all the way to the in gate.
The staff have bent over backwards to serve me. The manager walks around asking for feed back and they listen.
Things I suggested have already been implemented. It is the detail that counts.
Downer
The Buffet counter is blocked by a solid wall. Some other reports of bad service are because the staff just don’t know your waiting. give a call and they come running.
The rooms are well appointed. No frills but nothing left out.
BIG BONUS. a plug on the bathroom sink. A shave without stuffing toilet paper in the hole.
I have enjoyed the peaceful location. A great break from a hard and hot days work. The mountain view is much better than looking at a shantytown over a razor wire fence.
