Standard room was very clean and smelling fresh. The room AC was already prepared and on for my comfort whilst checking in.
The bed was comfortable with extra pillows. The room had all the basic necessities and you could pay extra K25 for additional toothpaste, tooth brush, shaving cream and blade etc. The usual coffee and tea, iron and board were provided.
The house cleaning team were friendly whilst the front office lady was very helpful.

Chose to book with Huon Gulf Hotel & Apartments because of the familiarity with the Coral Sea Hotels and my place of residence was not in good condition to move into. This hotel provided that homey feeling that made me feel right at home on my first night in a new city. Enjoyed the wholesome food as well. Definitely need to try out the hot rocks menu!

This hotel was in the style of an Australian country motel with a good sized, clean room and an acceptable attached bathroom. Also had a tiled floor which suited the climate and easier to keep clean in the dusty environment. Everything seemed to work except the remote for the air conditioning unit.
Probably the best feature was the food in their on-site restaurant - especially the breakfast. Service was adequate.
The big issue is that Lae is not a great destination even considering that it is the second largest city in PNG and its seaside location. Most people seem to go there for business reasons and security seems to be a lurking problem.

Although an older motel style, the accommodation, restaurant, service coupled with the fact you can park your car outside your rooms makes it the obvious choice for visitors who have their own vehicle (and bus as my case). The staff excel themselves in making you feel comfortable. I have to stay it is one of the hotels/motels in PNG. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone who needs safe, secure, hygenically clean and good honest hospitality

We paid K170 for the Pool Package. The Pizza was terrible. Coke was not provided with disposable cups they ran out. Customer seorvice was very poor on a Sunday afternoon.
I could buy very excellent Pizza at the Lae International Hotel.
More a Guest House Standard.

Went there for dinner recently. It is an italian inspired restaurant. So you can get Pizza, Lasagne etc. But don't expect to much. The food is only average. A bad joke is the bruschetta. Don't order this - you will just get two slices - which is ridiculous.

Lovely lunch. Nice restuarant layout and decor. Menu showed a wide food variety. All items were well priced. Quality of meal I ordered was excellent. Level of service very good with waitresses close by and attentive.

This accommodation has got a great access in & out of central town of Lae. So I can take an advantage when go shopping or visiting some of major places, taking only 5-10min by car.
Its environment is great. It is located next to Botanical Gardens, surronded by rainforest trees at the back side. Quiet but full of bird-singing sounds feel me fresh and nature-in-like in the morning.
Staffs are generally kind and supportive. And its restaurant serves different kind of menus for dinner everyday. Especially my co-workers like buffet-style dinner.
Considering price, access and environment, Huon Gulf Hotel might be one of the alternatives for visitors in Lae.

A very enjoyable but short stop for us, the hotel is very nice and so are the staff, it has a great location, the hotel is owned by the same company that owned where we stayed in Port Moresby. A truly beautiful part of the world and want to come back to spend more time in the area

I always like to stay at the Huon Gulf Hotel, the rooms are clean and well equiped, the staff friendly and helpful and the position perfect for the CBD and the market. The restaurant is small but friendly and the menu offers everything from pizza to the delicious Mt Wilhelm trout. The staff are friendly and attentive. I like nothing better than to sit on the restaurant veranda sipping a cafe latte and I'm not alone during the day it seems that all of Lae comes in for a coffee. It's a great place to find out what's going on in the city. I'll be back.
