A good place to sleep

Staff are welcoming (Tick) Bed is comfortable (Tick) WiFi works well (cross) Food in good (Tick) Beer is cold (Tick) On balance a great stay and definitely better than the other options in town. It would be great however for the internet to work more consistently to complete the experience. Realistically some of the internet issues are outside of the control of the hotel.

Good Location near town

Good comfortable hotel, friendly helpful service and well located in town. Rooms well appointed, but no views from most rooms l would think. Restaurant very basic, leaves a lot to be desired, as does breakfast which is included but all you get is Cocoa Pops or Cornflakes, toast, coffee from a ten litre urn that is absolutely stewed, and a choice of a muffin or danish pastry. The fruit on offer at all times l checked was one or two pieces of pieap ple and watermelon, didn't look too inviting.

Clean spacious rooms

I have been to Lae several times before and I have tried other accommodations in town. Lae City Hotel is now my preferred place to stay in Lae it has clean & spacious rooms. The staff are always friendly with the option of early check in to drop my luggage off before going to my appointments.

Safe, clean and good service

Being in Lae for a business trip, Lar City Hotel seems to be the right choice. Friendly service, clean and well serviced rooms. There is no place for a lot of sophistication rather for efficiency. Average continental breakfast and A/C difficult to manage. Hot water available after some minutes.

Good food, secure property, friendly staff

According to the guys at work, this is the best place in Lae to stay. But, we didn't have high expectations and were pleasantly surprised. The decor is like one of those typical Chinese built hotels, with cheap furniture, funny lighting and a bit stuffy, but that's the hand you're dealt. It doesn't have a bar, but has a restaurant/cafe thing. The food was good. But it's not a social place, catering to the business traveller who doesn't venture out after dark. One thing that was amazing however, was the bed and pillows. I don't know where they got them from, but it was soft and gave me a great nights sleep. I feel like sleeping now just thinking about it- bloody good!

We get all our beds and pillows directly shipped from China from our trusted supplier, if you are interested to have the same bed and pillows for your home I can assist you with the supplier information. overpriced, fairly sterile and reasonably good food

Stayed here while in Lae and was disappointed as I expected better reading the tripadvisor reviews. The hotel is relatively new but has a sterile atmosphere. The rooms are are average and overpriced. The wifi does not work in rooms and is frustratingly slow in the restuarant. The in house phone system doesnt work either. The rates include a continental breakfast without coffee which you will have to pay for, tes include a continental breakfast without coffee which you will need to pay for! The restuarant has an extensive menu which is the main feature of the hotel. Security parking is also a plus. The local staff are very nice. I briefly saw the Crossroads hot el which looked a lot better value and so will stay there next time.

Fantastic Service and Quality in Lae

This is a great hotel and I am a bit reluctant to rate it as everyone will want to stay there now!! I think the big hotels in Port Moresby should send their managers to this hotel to see how a hotel should be run. The restaurant is small but so popular that you have to book a table every night. The staff are excellent and friendly and can't do enough for you. Free wifi and sumptuous super clean rooms. Water available all the time and no power problems. No need to ever stay anywhere else in Lae.

Best place in Lae to stay

This was our 4th trip to Lae in the past 3 years and it’s great to see a hotel like the Lae City Hotel that is now seriously competing with the Melanesian and the Lae International Hotel which are definitely 3 star hotel charging 5 star prices. The deluxe rooms are quite large and comfortable with more than adequate space of you want to bring friends up for a visit. There is a large sectional sofa exactly like the photo on their website. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the City Café serves a wide range of Asian and Indonesian foods so there’s heaps of choices of you’re there for a few days. The one down side was frequent power outages which meant that when power came back you had to reset the air conditioner, as it seemed to clear all previous settings, which…

New..... LAE CITY HOTEL.

Just this year so many colleagues of mine recommended this hotel for its price, simple building, and foods. Now I believe to stay in this new opened hotel need a definite reservation.... We were not even able to see the room for an observation because it was all occupied... next surprises? it is also fully booked until Christmas and New year... So we just enjoy the Restaurant and not able to spend the night in hotel, service in restaurant is good, cleanliness is good, location is perfectly in the heart of LAE city, the same value of food compare to other hotels but here we have more choices including INDONESIAN food which finally easy to understand after I meet two INDONESIANS: Donny-Hotel Manager and Tony - Executive Chef both graduated from NHI BANDUNG INDONESIA my home town.…

WOW ! Gobsmacked with the value and sumptuous furnishings

From the palazzo like entrance with cafe outside to the marble entranced foyer, to the mirrored elevator, the plush carpets to the rooms, the very very large leather reclining L Shaped lounge suite in front of the very large Flat Screen through to the very ultra large bathroom with 2 person size shower and more theres not much left to say. Superb value, very clean - very new of course and very comfortable.
