We just left here after 3 nights in the private room right off of the reception area. Initially, I had concerns that this would be noisy with people coming and going, but since the reception closes in the evening, it was no problem. The kitchen upstairs where the dorm rooms are, was well equipped to service a number of people...

A very nice couple of days at Gaia. Good location just off the Main Street. Manager speaks excellent English and is very informative and helpful. Great common area with lots of reading material and a good, well-stocked kitchen (utensils). Washing is cheap ($2!). Our double room was clean, comfortable and the bathroom was good. Very solid bet if staying a...

This is a hostal but also has a private room. This place is in a convenient location and is well kept. I have not stayed at a hostal in a long time so hard to compare to others. The mattress was okay to sleep on and that is what is really important.

Very pleasant nice hostel, quiet place, you have the feeling of staying in your own apartment when there are not many people in the hostel. I was alone there, so I had the whole place for me for the dormitory price. You have a nice kitchen available for cooking. It is not far from the center. If I go again...

I ejoyed my stay at Hostal Gaia, I thought it was very cute and relaxed. It was also well kept and I felt very safe. The staff gave my friends and I great tips on tours and restaurants in the area. The only downfall is that there was only one bathroom for the whole floor I was in, and sometimes...

The rooms are quite dated, as are the furniture and fittings. We stayed in the triple by the office and the toilet looked like an airplane toilet and it sounded like an airplane taking off every time we flushed it! If you think this is an exaggeration, please stay in the room and see for yourselves! We asked to see...

We stayed here for a couple of days, after meeting a guy who told us to stay there. this is exactly the type of places we enjoy: small (2 dorms 4 - 6 people + a few private rooms), quiet (the whole city is anyway), lots of amenities (coffee, books, games, kitchen) and a hot shower after being on the...

For $11 a night in the rainy season, Hostel Gaia was a great deal. The beds were comfy with good blankets since it can get cold. The kitchen is kept pretty clean and is probably the best equipped I think I have seen yet, with a microwave, toaster oven, gas stove, lots of plates and silverware, and every cooking tool...

Great little hostel. We shared a meal with the staff, lovely people. Great rooms, good location, excellent rates for what you get. TV room, clothes washing facilities and kitchen well supplied with utensils etc, excellent facility. Private rooms are brilliant - ensuite. Space outdoors, and very welcoming.

We were looking for a quiet inexpensive place with a double room and private bathroom and we got it. The upstairs common area was large and kitchen well equipped. Staff was helpful and friendly. The room was large with a large bathroom. It was close to stores and restaurants.

“Reserve one of the private rooms with ensuite baths; Room #5 is best, is in a separate and private cabina. To get warm or hot water from the shower, turn on the water only a little. Using the full pressure will give you a very cold shower.”

“the one in the back in the main building was quieter in my opinon. The hostel area upstairs was clean and nice. Full kitchen . one bathroom, bunks and a big t.v. with movies and books available. Free coffee if I remember correctly. no A/C or fan, may need a fan in the hotter months, but not necessary most of the time”
