We were a party of 10 using 5 rooms, one of which was a family room. (3 ex South Africa, 7 ex UK). This commentary is a consensus view of the whole party. The location is wonderful, right on the beach. The food was great. A number of small problems were dealt with immediately. Excellent Manager and staff. Cannot be...

I had a small group stay in the hotel - during booking process they came back and saidI was 1 room short after having had a confirmation - on arrival the rooming list was mixed up . In the morning the breakfast buffet wasnt ready and after a long wait 3 of my group got up and left as hot...

The Burning Shore was a real let down and it does seem to be monopolising on the fact that Brad /Anjie stayed there. If you are going to that area I am sure you can do a lot better for the money! It was not worth it at all and we would not recommend it! The Burning Shore is basically...

Please do not be fooled by the fact that Brad and Angelina were guests at this establishment. Since their stay, a completely different set of management have taken over the running of this hotel, and all is not well at Burning Shore! While the views are exquisite, and the Suite has a very large bathroom complete with jacuzzi and walk-in...

When staying at the Burning Shore you are definitely paying for the sea-side view. It is approximately 5 miles from Swakopmund so you are outside the hustle and bustle of town. There are only a few rooms so you don't see a lot of people. The staff are very nice and attentive to one's needs. I would have to agree...

Like many other reviewers, we had believed some of the hype and expected "luxury" as per the website details. If you are expecting 3* comfort, and are lucky enough to get an ocean view, then it's fine. If you are looking for luxury accommodation, highly attentive service and fine dinning, look elsewhere (and probably outside Swakopmund!)

We've just returned from our honey moon in Namibia. We had booked a room for two nights in The Burning Shore expecting it to be a deluxe hotel, as they claim themselves to be. Well, definitely, it is not. It hardly is a 3 star. It's not that is not good if you're simply expecting a nice B+B. Its old...

Burning Shore is an elegant hotel located about 5 miles from Swakopmund on the road to Walvis Bay. Unfortunately, this does mean that you have to drive in order to take advantage of the facilities and restaurants in town. However, the hotel is very nice and we had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea. The whole hotel is...

This came as a real surprise as I asked my travel agent to book a B&B for me for 2 nights in Swakopmund. It's about 10 km south of Swak and right on the beach. Would describe the place as a casual elegant boutique hotel which has a few rooms and a few suites. It has it's own small restaurant...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As the shifting sands of the Namib Desert swirl in time to an ageless rhythm, this hotel rises above the wilderness in an oasis of calm like a soothing balm upon the scorched earth. It is here, on the edge of one of the world's largest sand dunes, that visitors pay homage to the stark beauty of the Namib and the mighty expanse of the Atlantic. African Pride Burning Shore offers four standard rooms, three luxury rooms, four superior rooms and one suite. The hotel is located on the beachfront at Longbeach, only 15 km from either Swakopmund or Walvis Bay and 20 minutes from the nearest Regional Airport. It's a hotel that complements your travel style. Dine at our in-house restaurant that serves exquisite cuisine or sit down for your favorite drink in the cocktail bar. Guests can also head to the deck for alfresco dining with direct access to the beach or indulge in activities from quad biking to dolphin cruises. ... more   less

“We had 'Shiloh' room which was a luxury room, but it is open plan with the bathroom. Not a good idea if you want privacy on the loo! Otherwise, a nice room with a partial view of the beach and sea. We upgraded from a standard room which a member of staff said was very small. (We didn't see one.)”
