We found Auberge Tangaro on the hip hotels website and it lived up to expectations. Built in the 1920s as a palace for a French princess, Tangaro has a distinctive Moroccan character and relaxed, laid back atmosphere. Set in lovely grounds with shady courtyard, inviting pool area, sunny yoga studio and hammam, it is just 3 miles outside the lovely...

The area is nice- although far away from Essaouira and the beach. The taxi to Essaouira costs 40 Dh during day and 50 Dh during the night (not 25Dh as indicated on the website). There was no shuttle available... The bicycles were broken and couldn't been fixed within one week. The water in the shower was cold. We were offered...

My best friend and I (who is now just over four weeks pregnant!) had the most peaceful, comfortable and happy stay at Tangaro. Younes and the staff made us feel completely relaxed and at home. We were greeted with warm smiles on arrival from our direct flight from London Luton to Essaouira, and these smiles continued throughout our holiday! Tangaro...

Essaouira is a sweet place with some secluded beaches. We did not explore the town too much due to a lack of time My girlfriend and I stayed a night at Tangaro and the place couldn't be better. Super clean and cozy. Staff was helpful. Tangaro has a personality of its own, one could say a vintage one. The vibe...

My girlfriend and I and our 3 kids stayed at the auberge for a week. we were planning to come to Marrakech but we loved so much the serenity, warmth and hospitality that we decided to stay the whole week. Candlelight dinners were very charming. The meals were delicious and the service really warm, especially the woman in the kitchen....

Well Tangaro is in my longterm memory a place with very good vibrations! So after 40(!) years I had to revisited again. I was very happy to discover Auberge Tangaro still has a lot of the peace and 'charme' it had long time ago. The staff is really very friendly and likes to serve you the best they can. Thanks...

We spent 6 nights at this African Lodge-like hotel: if you seek peace and quietness in a wonderful location, this is the place to be. However, make sure NOT to book through Hotels.com. Our online booking was not recognized by Tangaro, but luckily they still had rooms available and we only had to wait for half an hour or so...

First, in its own right, a lovely hotel, peaceful, outside of town but a short cab ride for the equivalent of 3 euros to the market in Essaouira. aesthetically pleasing rooms opening into a courtyard that looks out to the west toward the ocean from on top of a big hill. Although it couldnt be more different architecturally, the feel...

Auberge Tangaro is an unusual building for the area, normally hotels are of a riad style in Morocco but this old inn retains a historic charm that we did not find anywhere else during our weeks in the country. Looking out towards the forest and then the huge flat beach leading towards Essaouria, the owner has made great efforts to...

Auberge Tangaro is truly very special. The website/photos are lovely but still cannot capture the unique beauty of this place. I would not recommend anywhere else in Essaouira. The medina, where a lot of the other Riads/guesthouses are is pretty but touristy and busy. Auberge Tangaro is an oasis of calm and peace, especially after Marrakech. The only sounds you...
