Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The moment we walk in, we were greet by a breathtaking scenery. Can see the private beach from above. Breakfst was super delicious especially the nasi lemak. My kids loved everything especially the pool. I almost thought they won't come out of the pool. They even have gym and library and we manage to stop by since my kids are all bookworms. Amazing place. View on the jungle and the sea. Amazing pool. The room are really great but really smaller than on the presentation. You have to climb on the bed to reach the bathroom. And the food is a bit expensive, with few vegetarian options and portion are really small.

I stayed there only for 1 night on 20/06 with my wife and 4 kids. The cabin was booked (we had 3) by my guide as she wanted us to experience something different as compared to another hotel we were staying at for the last 3 nights. Here are my thoughts. Pros: - Staff was friendly, well mannered and willing to listen to the feedback given by guests. - Close to nature. - Quiet. Good for those who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. - Many IG worthy spots. - Food was awesome, price was not. Fish and Chips were tops, hot tea was horrible. Breakfast was average. - Swimming pool was decent. - Dedicated surau for Muslims to perform to their prayers. However located too far from the cabin. Had to walk down a flight of rather steep stairs. Llights and fan working but there is a redundant cabinet which has nothing inside and the material already rotting. - Free parking - Very comfortable pillows, duvet and mattress. Cons: - Air con had no cover so the air was blowing straight into our faces when we slept. - Definitely not kids and elderly friendly. I had no choice as it was part of our tour package. - If you stay further from the carpark you will have to struggle with your luggage as the pathway to the cabins are made up of single concrete slabs with gravel in between. Plus you will have to climb up and down a flight of stairs. There was no staff to help carry our luggage. - Mosquitoes and insects everywhere and a few managed to sneak into my cabin. Unfortunately the place is located in a forested area so we had to deal with it. - WiFi was down the whole night. - Due to the concept of the resort, there are unfortunately no covered walkways to the individual cabins. It rained heavily and we were stuck at the lobby for a while. - No bidet in the bathroom, but there was at the common toilet. - No space to perform prayers in the cabin, resort's surau too far. - The step up below the bed has a sharp metal edge. I took a picture and showed it to the staff and they took note of the issue. They did offer to change my cabin but I didn't want to be away from my wife and kids. You could cover the edges with a plastic edge guard or replace it with an individual stool. - The wooden toilet door is annoying. It is heavy and it is very difficult to open and close the door as it is easily derailed. Due to its proximity to the shower, the bottom part of the door is showing signs of warping. One solution is to replace the wooden door with a PVC sliding door. Lighter and water proof. - Cabin doors are difficult to open and close. You will have to pull or push real hard to open it. - I found a box cutter blade placed on top of a black pole located in front of cabin 11. I took a picture and informed the staff hoping that they would remove it which they did not. I eventually removed it and gave it to the plant/tree pruning contractor. - Curtains are hard to close completely. Some gaps can be seen and thus privacy is compromised. - Not many activities, far from the nearest town, unless you're driving. Overall my stay was ok. Will I come back? Nopes. But I must commend on the overall concept. It is something unique and different. And of course, the attitude of the staff was excellent!

The place is beautiful and the view is simply amazing. Their service is prompt, and they will attend to you ASAP. We had dinner there and the food we ordered was delicious and well prepared. Breakfast options were limited, though, but still good nonetheless. As we travelled as a family, we had 2 luggage with us and had difficulty storing them in the room. So bring a backpack or cabin luggage along if you plan to stay here.

Dear Nurshasen, Greetings from The Culvert Kuching! Thank you for your compliments on our Resort and services. We are glad that you and your family enjoyed the stay. Indeed the rooms may lack space due to the unique design and we recommend you to try our Sea View Suite in future which has more space and en suite toilet. A more comfortable option for families and those with baggage. Apologize for not giving you the option on the day of your arrival as all the rooms were taken. Thank you and look forward to your next visit. Ivan Ong
