We (myself & partner) have recently stayed at Tropicana Lodge for 12 days or so aside from when we went on a trip to the jungle for three days (arranged by the guest house) (where we saw a lot of wildlife including wild pygmy elephants, wild orangutans ect ) The owner (Vincent) has been a great host and full on...

This has to be the worst place on the face of the earth. Wow, what a guy this Vincent is. Consuming alcoholic beverages and herbs from the mother earth (still illegit) constantly. I mean, he was doing that all the time. We were there for three long days and two long nights. Actually we tried to spent time here as...

Let's start with the positives of this place: 1) Location. Right across the road from Gaya street and the sunday market, the shopping centers, lots of food fares and the CBD. That's where the positives end. Let's talk about the negatives: 1) The owner of the place (Vincent) needs to get some serious lessons in basic manners and basic PR....

I stayed here a long time ago, in 2007, it was my first trip travelling alone, and the owner Vincent was really great. Sure he likes his beers, but he helped me to organise a lot of trips across Sabah, and gave me some advice and I used his internet for free to book my own trip into Sarawak. The...

Tropicana Lodge is located right in the centre of KK, with the steep, jungle covered hill literally starting where the lodge ends. Therefor it is really quiet at night and still only 100m from where the nightlife starts. The lodge is basic but I had a room on my own and felt perfectly comfy. The owner at first comes across...

The owner is a drunk and a junky, drinks and smokes the whole day long. Trips are organised by the owner himself, starts drinking at noon while driving a car with tourists. He claimes to be the cheapest, by far not! The other staff is very helpfull and friendly and deserves better. Rooms are dirty and very basic, rates are...

What can I say about this place, apart from we meant to stay 1 night, and ended up staying the full week because of the lengths the manager, Vincent, went to help us enjoy what had to be a truly unique experience. Not a hostel for the conservative, or OCD traveller, which added to the charm of our stay due...

(Firstly this review is entered very late as I only just opened my own tripadvisor account, I stayed here 1 year ago so its possible it has improved) Stayed at this place as they offered the best rates for booking the Kota Kinabalu mountain trip, and so foolishly without reading any reviews just decided to book this place as our...

Definitely the most helpful & friendliest guesthouse I've stayed so far. Even when they are busy, they serve pancakes, local coffee & tea for breakfast which is delicious but made the place a bit untidy. But they cleaned it up spotless clean as soon as we left. This place is special for trip arrangements traveling in Borneo. Vincent rocks. He...
