The staff were not very welcoming and were hard to find when you needed something. The internet was pretty poor and the rooms were pretty bare bones. The street below was terribly loud at all hours of the night and the beds were ok at best. They offer a free breakfast, but it is just white toast and jam/butter. There...

Stayed here for five days. The staff is really great and helpful. The place itself is clean and is a very good budget stay. The pillow can do for a replacement though as they aren't super comfortable. The breakfast is nothing special as it is just toast and coffee but for 80 ringgit at night you can't complain. Definitely recommend...

Dirty rooms, very noisy location (main road just below). Staff not available (we had to look for someone during 45 min for our check-out, which was done perfectly on time at 11 am, because no one was there. Non functional internet. Crappy breakfast (better not to serve any than to serve that). Even as a backpacker, please find something else!

Great location, lovely staff. All round good hostel. The sticky rice adventures they offer are a bit expensive so I booked my trips elsewhere. Bar/cafe downstairs bit expensive but good for now and then.

Really loved this place for its nice vibe, and the cafe connected to it. Every evening there was something, like a jazz band playing. Easy to talk to people, also locals. It's a lonely backpackers dream! Very clean. Only drawback is the coffee, which you use to strip paint of your car :-)

Overall the stay was ok and does the job, my bed was an odd design and made it so I fell in the gap but seemed to be the only one in the hostel room. The aircon was broken when we stayed but the staff did apologise and try to fix it. The hostel itself is in a great location...

I stayed in Borneo back packers with my school expedition group last summer and I can honestly say it was amazing! We travelled all over Borneo for a month but kept this hostel as our base. We ended up staying here for around 8 nights in total and it really was like our home. The staff were always so helpful...

I came to KK for a weekned of diving and adventure travel, and landed on borneo backpackers. What I found was a really awesome and helpful staff, comfy and clean hostel, amazing location, and cool bar/restaurant downstairs. Can walk to everything downtown, and all my adventure tours (diving, biking) picked me up. Very basic breakfast (white bread, instant coffee, bananas)...

Lots of youth groups here (mine was one of them!) but also good single / double rooms near the kitchen area. Even when full, there wasn't a queue for showers and the bar downstairs does great food as well. The owner is often around, well worth a chat to him and all of the staff who work there are really...

A great little hostel to stay in while in Kota Kinabalu. Not long from the airport and only ten or fifteen minutes away from the market and restaurants on the sea front. WiFi is accessible and so is a great little book exchange corner filled with some awesome travel books.
