Nestled in a prime spot, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu is lauded for its central location that affords convenient access to local dining, shopping, and scenic waterfront views. The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness receive accolades from guests who appreciate the tidy, spacious rooms with picturesque outlooks. However, the hotel's charm is occasionally overshadowed by remarks on the need for updates and improved housekeeping.
While the staff's friendliness stands out, some visitors point out service inconsistencies. Opinions on value and amenities like the pool diverge, with some guests deeming them satisfactory and others suggesting enhancements are necessary.

Lovely hotel, great location close to markets, shopping centres and waterfront. Staff are exceptional! Very helpful and friendly. Pay a little extra for club lounge room- it's well worth it. Great food and beverages, personalised service in the club lounge,

A pleasant stay at the end of a 2-week backpacking trip for mother and daughter. Great, very reasonably priced short-term offer via hotels.com for a very large room with two huge twin beds and a very nice and practically designed, open bathroom/shower area. The room did face the inner courtyard, which was covered - and therefore no direct daylight and no view of the weather/"outside world". But it was absolutely fine for our needs and given the very reasonable price. We mainly needed space to "unpack" and organize for the journey home or onward journey. So it was perfect! Nice, large pool - ideal for swimming. Great, well-equipped gym - open 24 hours. Great breakfast offer if reserved the evening before: only the equivalent of CHF 8.- per person. Location ideal for snorkeling trips from Jettson Ferry Point - only about 7-10 minutes walk. Also very close to Suria Mall with great shopping and dining options.

Hyatt Regency is well situated, 2 minute walk to Suria Sabah Mall and the Sunday market, 5 minute drive to Jesselton Pier and a 10 minute drive to Imago. The room is spacious. No bathtub but the shower is strong and shampoo, conditioner, body wash filled daily. Breakfast buffet is amazing!! So much choice. The rooms were cleaned at good time each day.
Downsides- Do check what view you get, if you get a lobby view- there is no natural daylight and you look out to other rooms so we kept curtains closed. The hotel itself is looking tired and old.
Some feedback for Hyatt, - refresh, renovate the reception/ lobby area. It looks very bare and not a Hyatt standard. Adding some greenery, more lounge areas and decor would be a quick fix. - Add taller greenery around the poolside to give a tropical feel. - provide drinking water at breakfast

We stayed here for our last night in Borneo before flying home. The reception area is a bit tired but our room was large, clean and very pleasant. I had been celebrating my 50th birthday during this trip and there was a birthday cake in the room which was a lovely touch.
There was a well stocked bar with a great location to view sunset over the sea.
It was Ramadan when we stayed and the restaurants were all full on the evening, but this was no problem as we took a short walk to Gaya Street night market for dinner instead.
The breakfast was very generous with many cooking stations offering freshly cooked food.
As part of our trip we flew to Lahad Datu and we were over our baggage allowance. The Hyatt generously allowed us to drop off luggage several days before we stayed which allowed us to travel on with a lighter load and reunite with our luggage when we arrived for our one night stay. This was an excellent service and we were very grateful. There was no charge for holding our luggage either.

Check-in was at 2pm, so I arrived at 2pm, but the room wasn't ready, so I had to relax by the pool and wait. The staff were friendly and responsive to any questions or needs. If your reservation does not include breakfast, you can pay 40 ringgit per person. There was a wide variety of food, and empty dishes were cleaned up quickly, so I was able to eat comfortably.

Upon check-in, the room was ready ahead of the standard check-in time, thanks to the reservation team reaching out via email to confirm our arrival time. The room was cozy and spacious, much to the delight of my three children, who enjoyed having ample space to play.
The staff were exceptionally attentive and helpful throughout our stay.
The breakfast was fantastic, offering a wide variety of options ranging from Asian to Western cuisine.
We will definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to KK.

Location for this hotel is right in the centre of KK, close to the waterfront...close to everything really. It has that big 80s luxury hotel vibe, kinda reminds me of a few Bangkok hotels I've stayed in, but it's clean, comfortable and modern where it counts.
Room was huge. Could have fit another King Size bed with room to spare. Bed was comfortable and a genuine King bed. Bathroom was comparatively small, but designed so that the toilet and shower could be used simultaneously by two people without any privacy worries.
View was of a carpark, but I didn't pay for an ocean view room - which I regret. If you can afford it, do it.
Did not dine at property, but used the bar a few times - good sunset view. Pool was quite pleasant.
It's a short walk to the older part of KK where there are ample kopitiams and dining options. Spoilt for choice, we hit different ones each day and still had options!

Value for money, easy access to restaurants for options in case you are looking for local delicacies e.g. seafood
Despite being one of the oldest hotel in KK, the interior is kept updated and minimal for ease of access.
The only thing that may be considered as a setbackis the uncovered parking.

This time, I stayed in Kota Kinabalu with my friend for about a week. Hyatt Regency Kinabalu is conveniently located within a 10-minute walk from Jesselton Point and other shopping malls. In addition, the distance to famous restaurants and night markets was, on average, less than 5 minutes on foot. The price was very reasonable even though it was a famous 5-star hotel, and the room was spacious and very comfortable, except that the room door sometimes did not open well. I heard it's an old hotel, but apart from the door handle, it looks like the overall room facilities have been very well maintained. My friend and I highly recommended this hotel to our friends who are thinking of traveling to Kota Kinabalu :)

The rooms are large and comfortable, as always. However, housekeeping and general maintenance could be improved upon. Not saying it's atrocious, it's just little extra touches - like clearing our used plates and changing our used glasses. Breakfast, on the other hand, is amazing. The spread is very comprehensive and the fresh juices are delightful. Service efficiency however can be improved, when seated the tables are not fully ready, we never got salt and pepper or sugar on the table, requiring us to ask for. Despite that, the staff are extremely friendly and amenable. That in itself is enough to overlook not having salt, pepper and sugar on the table.
