We stayed for two nights at E&O Hotel (its more popular name) and it was nothing short of amazing. This is one of the oldest hotels in Penang and it is still well-maintained. We were set on their new wing and our room was spacious and has an amazing view of Penang. The bathroom was divided into his and hers...

The sea-fronting hotel, located at 10 Farquhar Street (Lebuh Farquhar) is known for its luxurious accommodation and restaurants.Today, the luxurious all-suite hotel stands as the grand dame of heritage hotels, its distinctive classic elegance and grace of service enhanced with time. Majority of the suites look out onto the ornamental garden and swimming pool with views across the Andaman Sea.

This is a typical English style hotel of yester year. Everything about it is a reminder of the past. Rooms are large and larger. Most overlook the sea. Hallways are wide. Furniture is typical yester year so not for the contemporary person. Breakfast was great with fresh squeezed juices and freshly cooked roti. There is also an afternoon tea each...

This was an expensive hotel for sure but just gorgeous in its well-preserved English Colonial style. The rooms are very large compared with other rooms in Malaysia. The restaurants are spotless, with classy decor and wonderful food. We had formal tea and it was one of the nicer services I've ever had..anywhere in the world. Just top notch. I loved...

The E&O hotel is a heritage hotel established 1885 so it's definitely got the classic nostalgia style. We stayed in the heritage wing, the room was very spacious with unobstructed open sea views with large bathroom. The room was so big that the wifi in my room was quite spotty, it was better in bed area but worse in the...

Great hotel with a real old heritage feel but with all the modern conveniences. large rooms, huge bathroom and a balcony over the water. The pool area has a great infinite pool. The location is away from the beach area but walking distance to most of the attractions in George Town.

everything is good. Hotel is very clean, interiors are very nice, equipped very good furniture and elements, like a chandelier in the lobby. Very nice wooden floor. Balcony at the room ( new building). There are two pools in the hotel: one on the ground near the ocean closed to the historical part, another one on the 6th floor at...

We stayed in the annex, where we found the rooms large and very comfortable although the patio doors were very tricky to open and close. As guests in the annex we had drinks and nibbles in the late afternoon which were very popular so tables went quickly as did the delicious nibbles. The food in the dining room was not...

This is the best hotel! It feels like a fancy manor where I would have lived as a writer-in-residence, had I been a write 100 years ago. Stay in the Heritage Wing. Stay for a week, or a few months, and just relax. It's a beautiful escape.

In many ways, it has also come to represent Penang itself; its story inextricably woven into the island's history, its traditions an indelible part of many a traveller's treasured memory, its name synonymous with the magical island once known as The Pearl Of the Orient. ... more   less
