This lodge is really great. The people at the lodge were wonderful. The buffet food was maybe a 7 (on a scale of 1 to 10) - OK but not outstanding. Game viewing was amazing, The pool has great views of game. The only downside was the warmth of the rooms. They have big open sliding doors, with no screens...

If you want to really feel at one with nature this is the place to stay. Our first night we heard all the sounds of the bush including a lion killing. We visited the local Samburu tribe and had great safaris with Peter. The lodge was virtually empty - probably because the web site said it was closed (which it...

Our trip to Kenya was what really got me interested in buying an SLR camera and investing in a few courses to learn how to use it properly. It was worth the investment as when you get to places like Samburu you literally get transfixed by the beauty of the African wilderness. There are many wonderful parks in Kenya but...

Fine rooms, Good food, excellent game viewing - some animals rarely seen other than here - Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy Zebra. Great place to start a Kenya safari, then work south.

Although this lodge is under construction at the moment I hope it opens shortly with the many lovely features that were there originally there. We stayed at this lodge in 2004 taking the domestic flight to Nairobi and our driver meeting us with our main luggage as this was a long safari with various stops. On arrival at the lodge...

I'm a tour leader and have stayed at Samburu Serena over 20 times. Actually, my last stay was in June 2009 but this site doesn't let you go back that far. I'm only writing to say that the previous reviewer probably didn't stay at Serena because it was totally destroyed in a flash flood in March 2010. I was at...

We stayed at this Lodge in late August as part of the Kuoni Cheeta Serena Safari. The lodge was excellent - rooms were big, very clean and comfy. The restaurant, bar & pool area were all lovely. The staff were great, if a tiny bit over-formal but they're trying their best so. I guess I felt their presence a little...

After a very interesting drive from Isiolo we got to Samburu, the first thing to notice as compared to the Mara is that it is very dry and also very dusty (our white clothes become a reddy kinda colour). We loved Samburu (have visited 3 times now) and have seen Lion, Cheetah and Leopard on each visit, saw an amazing...

After a long trip from Nairobi, Samburu Serena Lodge was a welcoming oasis. The accommodation was comfortable with good views to the river. The buffet style meals were varied and interesting, with a good bar area. Staff were very friendly and anxious to do all they could to make our stay memorable. We used the pool between game drives as...

“All rooms have great views, but this was a dirtiest on our safari. I'd avoid, if possible”

“Rooms fronting the watering hole are good, it is to the left facing the park. New "tent" rooms are on the right, sparking new and very nice first two are good for wildlife watching.”
 of 5 bubbles jgirl1604, 5 Feb 2015 | Read review
“The website advertised free wifi but it was quite sparse and almost never worked. All of the rooms had fabulous views and were large and spacious. Need to remember that even though the rooms are clean, there are still insects, lizards and mice that can easily access rooms.”
 of 5 bubbles NancyL606, 27 Oct 2014 | Read review
“Rooms are grouped in separate lodges: 4 to a floor on two floors. Unless you have trouble with one standard flight of stairs, ask for one on an upper floor for the best views. Staff can carry your bags.”

“Ask about rooms with good ventilation - we did not, so that may have been our issue.”
