Let me begin by noting that it takes a lot for me to write a negative review and never in all of my travels have I ever requested an alternative room - I had to do so twice at Nanshukan. I chose this hotel for the location and based on the reviews on trip adviser but have to say we...

Location was very central to shops, department stores and restaurants. A few minutes from Kagoshima Chua Station (1,000 yen by taxi). The room was very clean and large by Japanese standards. Towels and sheets were changed daily. We especially appreciated the wonderful Japanese breakfast that was provided. We had a choice of Japanese or Western breakfast. It may not be...

We found in general it was a bit more difficult to communicate in Kagoshima, and I think that was the challenge for this hotel stay. We had read earlier reviews about the service and hospitality, but honestly could not find anyone at the front desk able to effectively communicate with, so needed to go out on the street to find...

Didn't stay in this hotel. Came here for their award winning large hot pot meal. There are procedures to enjoy this meal and the staff will guide you through. The black pork served was tender and juicy. Vegetables were fresh and crunchy. The clear soup was delicious especially towards the end when they serve noodle. Price is reasonable. Prior reservation...

Basic accommodation but very clean with extremely nice and welcoming staff. The little touches such as receiving an ice cream on check in and a vitamin drink on check out really set the hotel apart. A bit tricky to find, taking a taxi could safe a lot hazzle when arriving late. Easy and quick walk (10-15min) to the ferry terminals.

What this hotel lacks in traditional Japanese aesthetic, it more than makes up with outstanding hospitality, staff friendliness, kindness of the owners and the most comprehensive Japanese breakfast ever. Our first impression, when we checked in, was that the front desk area and hotel in general was a bit rough and ready. Not excessively neat and tidy. The ladies at...

Stayed for 2 nights in this hotel in December 2013 with the partner. Enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to others. PROS - Great value for money with a night in a double costing us around 60 Aus dollars in December 2013. A free breakfast was included (can choose from Western vs Japanese) which was quite delicious and would...

This centrally located hotel was perfect for those travelling on a bit of a budget. The rooms were clean, the breakfast was delicious but most importantly, the staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful.

This hotel, apart from a very convenient location, also offers superb value for money. Very friendly service as well. We also very much enjoyed their breakfast (again, superb value for money). Highly recommended!

We stayed this hotel for three nights. It's a small and economy hotel. It's not fancy at all, rooms are totally outdated. Yet, we all LOVED this hotel. We travel a lot and stayed many hotels from economy to luxurious ones. However, no hotels could match the hospitality they offer at this hotel. They made us feel welcomed. Breakfast was...
