This is a basic style kind of Ryokan. We need to take off our shoes before entering, which we have no problem with it. Staff speak minimum English, however they are patient and try to make us feel comfortable. Room are spacious but down side are without private washroom. We are fine with their public bathroom, which only accommodate 3...

Finding our way there: Arriving at this ryokan is pretty straightforward. From Kintetsu Nara station, cross the road to the first bus stop nearest to the traffic light. Take Bus no 2. (Bus no 1 covers the same route but in opposite direction). In the bus, there is a panel informing passenger of the next stop. Once alighted at the...

We spent 3 nights at this Ryokan in November. We booked through japanese guest houses and think their advertising photographs were misleading. We were allocated a room in the modern section which smelt very unpleasant, it was near the kitchen extractor! The walls were not clean and there was a small hole in the wall in the lobby area. On...

Nara Mikasaso is located on the fringe of the never ending Nara Park. Surrounded by trees and with a manicured garden it feels completely at one with the relative serenity of this beautiful city. It takes about 30 minutes to walk to Nara Kintetsu railway station of about 1,000 yen by cab to Nara JR station. We found the staff...

KKR Nara / Mikasaso is a lovely traditional ryokan located on the southern edge of Nara Park. While this property might be a little intimidating for Westerners who speak no Japanese, for those who can muddle along in the local language, the Inn is a lovely destination right in the heart of Nara's sights.
