As far as the necessities are concerned, this inn has them - namely it is clean and comfortable. My fiancee and I stayed in a Japanese-style room (futon on mats) and it was quite comfortable and spacious. The bathrooms are shared, which did not prove to be a problem. The downstairs bathroom has a small, deep bath which was very...

Nice place, with clean, ensuite rooms. The staff is very friendly and will give you some pointers about what to do in Nikko. Nikko itself is a bit bussy, but still worth a visit. There is a nice, quit trail leading from the innn to a row of budas next to the river.

Average inn, small social area with a vending machine. There is a nice wash-room with a small deep bath (decorated with turtles of course). The room was very spacious with a little table and large futon.

We stayed at the annex in a Japanese style room and really enjoyed the experience. Beautiful location tucked away by the river allowing us an early morning stroll to see the stone Buddhas there. The private onsen overlooking the river was also a wonderful treat after a day of walking! The staff were friendly and kind. Would definitely go back...

I found this ryokan completely by chance - it was too busy in Tokyo and I was looking for 1 night "Getaway". The only thing I am sorry about is that we didn't have enough time to stay there more... Lovely owners with limited English but trying so much to make your stay as pleasant as possible... Beautiful river and...

Our first visit to countryside hotel in Japan. We visited in winter and walked all over Nikko. Our room was warm, clean, and comfortable. The morning meal was very good and well prepared. We would definitely stay her the next time we visit Nikko.

We loved staying here. It is a really cute, cosy inn set in a tranquil, quite spot. The owners are so welcoming and speak good English. They are more than happy to help with any questions and give good advice. We booked a twin room but ended up getting a family room with a double and single bed in it....

You couldn't ask for a better location than the Turtle Inn; it's far enough off the main roads to have no traffic noise, but walk 10 minutes and you're smack in the middle of the main sights in Nikko. There's a post office about 5 minutes' walk away, handy for withdrawing cash using a foreign ATM card. The kaiseki-style dinner...

The cutest Inn! Very friendly staff, it has a really nice, homely feel to it. We stayed as a group, and took up all the rooms (it was a last minute booking, and they were SO accommodating). Stayed in a room with 3 other women, and we had futons (which were very comfortable), and the rooms were warm, and I...

Turtle Inn, in terms of location, is about as perfect as you can get. It is a 10 minute walk max from everything worth seeing in Nikko. The inn itself (and I'm talking about the older building - there is a newer annexe) is no frills. However, it is very comfortable, and very clean. The shared bathroom and toilet facilities...
