The location was awesome (right by the train station), the lodgings were wonderful (very comfy, free wifi, and power sockets by the beds). However, the biggest and best thing about this location was the people! From the start, when we arrived in Nikko to check in and got given maps, directions and additional recommendations on locations to visit. Then playing... More

Nice, clean Traditional Japanese guest house. The best thing is the owners and staff are so friendly. The location is the best, 3 minutes from Nikko main station. There is an open kitchen where you can make your own cup of tea, breakfast or dinner.

This is a charming little guesthouse in a good location right next to the station. We had a beautiful Japanese Style room, and the host was very helpful and friendly. Shared bathroom was clean. Would stay here again.

We really felt like at home here: everyone was very very kind and helpfull (they also gave us a lift with their car our to go to a place close to the guest house!).Our room was quite small but very clean with tradional tatami and futon, and with the bathroom very close to the room. Hope to come back again... More

This cheap little hostel near Nikko's rail and bus stations offers small dorms and private rooms. It feels more like a homestay than a professional hostel: the rooms are cramped and there is only one shared shower and toilet. There is some street noise. The cheerful Japanese manager loves organising communal activities for guests.

This was our second time in Nikko, and our second stay at Guesthouse Sumica. It was as good if not better as when we were there in 2013. The owners are a delight. The guests cooked dinner together one night and played cards the other night - it's a really happy place!

Arrived for check in and created by very friendly hosts, they asked if I'd like to some sports that evening to which I agreed. A few hours later myself and the other guests were all in the nearby gym with a load of locals playing badminton and basketball - absolutely brilliant fun! After the sports we all chilled out in... Spent just one night here and didn't have tons of time in Nikko, and I never would have been able to make the most for it if not for the wonderful hosts. They gave me a terrific overview of the trails, the bus situation, and helped me choose the best hiking route for my one day in town. They also... More

Great location, literally 2 mins walk from JR Nikko station. Guest house is small but very warm welcome from Yoko when we arrived, she gave us maps and a great tip for a meal (Shiori). We went for a private tatami room which was clean and comfortable. Shared shower but two toilets was sufficient so no queues. Tip - visit... More

I spent 2 nights at Nikko Guesthouse and the place is extremely well located with awesome & friendly hosts. Thank you for introducing places in Nikko to go and helping to carry my heavy lugguage up and down the dorm. I love the hiking trail recommended & and I caught my train! Sorry for leaving in a rush.
