Stayed two nights in November. Quiet due to pandemic restrictions on tourists but the hotel more than met my expectations. Two minutes from one rail station, JR, six minutes walk from the other, Tobu, and across the street from the local buses, this place is superbly located. Great breakfast buffet, small bar and separate onsen for men and women. Comfortable room. What more could you want for the price?
Large room, very central. Good restaurnat and fresh buffett breakfast. Older property but very clean well maintained and fresh. The rooms are not too cramped. Beds comfortable. Hot bath on site. Easy access to most temples and sites.
This hotel is superbly located across from the train station and tourist and local bus stop. The room was pleasant with a comfortable bed and nice en-suite bathroom. We didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment on food but there are restaurants close by for morning breakfast and snacks and lunch plus dinner We arrived a little earlier for check in so left our bags to return later - the staff were very friendly when we left our bags. Unfortunately when we returned much later to complete check in and collect our keys and bags the person on duty had changed and we had a rather surely grump who was quite rude. This was very surprising considering the lovely staff we had first encountered and in general the lovely hotel people throughout our travels. It spoilt the stay a bit. Otherwise a great place to stay and so handy being so close to the station…
As I was hauling a suitcase, I wanted to stay at a hotel near JR Nikko Station. You can't get any nearer than this hotel - right across the street from the station. It is a couple of blocks to Tobu-Nikko station, which has lots of stores, coffee shops and restaurants surrounding it. There are also lots of taxis there. But everything shuts down pretty early - around 6:00pm. The hotel is an older property but very clean. I was told upon checking in that there was an onsen onsite but I did not try it. I also did not try the restaurant, which opened at 6:00pm for dinner and offered a buffet. It was a bit pricey for me. The hotel arranged a taxi for me the next day to Toshogu Shrine and gave me some tips and a map of the shrine. A+ for friendly service, definitely. The room was fairly well-sized by Japanese standards. Decor was straight out of the seventies and showing wear and tear, particularly in the bathroom. It did however have some old-style Japanese charm, so I did not mind it. The bed was a wood platform raised about a foot off the floor, which I kept hitting with my ankles every time I got out of bed. But it had a wonderful featherbed on it so was very comfy. Free internet was available but it was slow. I had a good stay and I would probably stay here again - mainly just for the convenience of the location. However, a little pricey for what you get.…
The rooms and bathroom were bigger than most Japanese hotels so it did not feel cramped. It is in a good location, right across from the JR station and 2 minute walk to the bus depot. We drove and found that there was ample parking, but this could be different because we were there during the middle of the week in November. The breakfast had plenty to offer as well. Additionally, if you have plans to go to some place such as Edo Wonderland and Tobu Square, they offer tickets at a discounted rate. Just be aware that many of the nearby establishments close as early as 6pm. If you are looking for something to eat, there is a Family Mart that is less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The only thing that bothered us was the smell of the hotel towels. If you could combine the mildewy smell of laundry that had been left in damp water for a couple of days and cigarette smoke, that would be it. I thought it may have been just the one towel, but the replacements they gave smelled just the same. I figure with the rate of the hotel, there would have been better bathroom towels. …
