Nikko is one of the popular destination amongst first time visitors to Japan. It has lots of historical and natural locations to visit. Also it is conveniently accessible vi the train from Tokyo for a good day trip. But if you want to spend an extra day and have some limited budget. There are lots of budget hotels and lodge. The Hotel Famitic Nikko is conveniently located a few minutes on foot from Tobu Nikko Station. A must try is the famous AgeManju (fried Bun). The store is just across the station The hotel room is small but that is what a budget capsule hotel is. The hotel has normal room for two people as well A common bath on the first floor. The room has a lock closet for security, you can charge for tablet or smart phone sure to bring the cable. This is not a romantic getaway.

I stayed in one of the capsules, and it's much better than other capsule hotels I tried. It's very close to the station, making it a good way to take the bus and explore. There is an onsen which was very relaxing after a long day of walking, it's quite small but every time I used it there was were one else there. Toiletries are provided, even shaving cream, toothpaste, but this is quite standard in most hotels in Japan and expected anyway. I really like how the capsules are very private. There are many capsules in one room, but each capsule are like a private room because they are separated by a curtain, you go in and have your own space. There's even some storage space, but not big enough for big luggage so be awarel but I believe they can store big luggage at the reception. Remember this is a capsule hotel, so don't expect a lot of space. They have lockers that you can use, which was handy for me since I arrived there very early and needed to store my backpack somewhere, and it's free. You put 100yen coin to use it but you get it back when you retrieve your belongings. The breakfast was simple but good enough, you get free coffee but only during breakfast, after the breakfast period you have to pay 100yen. Being close to the station, there are many restaurants around, but I really recommend the gyoza place only 2 shops away from the hotel, it's really delicious. Everything was super clean, maybe they had renovations recently because everything seemed so new. The staff was very friendly and nice, both check-in and check-out were quick an easy.

...especially if you’re used to capsule hotels which I’m really not. Close to the Tobu Nikko Station which was convenient. I guess it does make for a bit of a walk to Toshogu Shrine. Very nice man in the evenings at the front desk but I don’t think he speaks much English nor does anyone else here for that matter. It doesn’t seem really hard for foreigners to get by though as I saw quite a few others while I was here. The capsule was more like a large closet/tiny room with even a chair to sit on. Everything was clean and tidy. I thought it odd they used a fitted bedsheet for a duvet cover which leaves part of the comforter exposed. Otherwise no complaints here about the bedding. Breakfast is quite good and well worth the extra ¥600. What I don’t like here is that they nickel and dime you for coffee or tea. They only give it free in the morning. Even 15 minutes before they asked me for the extra ¥100. Also very strict about check-in and checkout times. Very short sighted on their part about these two things.

We (my husband, one year old daughter and myself) took a family room for two nights. Room was clean and big enough - We had 3 big suitcases, 2 small bags and a quite big stroller. Staff was very nice and welcoming. doesn’t speak much English but can manage. Great location! Would go back if for some reason I’ll find myself in Nikko again... ;)

Room was spotless, staff were polite and friendly, location was an easy 5 minute walk from the train station. Couldn't have asked for more. Think the hotel is new and it certainly felt that way! Wished we'd stayed longer.
