We got a western room with private bath and toilet. However since we used the onsen, we didnt get to use the shower/bath anymore. Wish we tried the Japanese room instead. The onsen is very nice and well equipped. The bed was comfortable but our room was hot. We tried to lower the temp several times but it remained hot...

Although the common toilet was quite inconvenient, overall it was very good. Food, room size, location, cleanliness and service. I recommend the place for its close proximity to the pirate ship and the ropeway.

Was warned this hotel was old and just okay by a tour director - however we were pleasantly surprised. Room was spacious with a great view over the lake. A nice quiet and peaceful town. Hiking trail directly across from the hotel and a gorgeous park just up the road (literally) from the hotel made this a most enjoyable stay....

Bus stop and the boat jetty are nearby, only walking distance. Hotel is quiet and comfortable with indoor hot-spring onsen. Great views of the fantastic countryside and Lake Ashi. It is wise to book the hotel with full board or at least half-board meals because there is nothing to have your dinner or breakfast nearby. The hotel offers a great...

My two friends and I went to the The Lake Hotel to use their Onsen. It is is nice Onsen with 2 large natural pools, 1 inside and 1 outside. There is also 2 tea cup pools and a sauna. The pools are wonderful and the grounds beautiful. It was 1200 yen to use the Onsen which is a decent...

The hotel itself and the rooms are all very modern and clean. The location is good for the Ropeway and taking the boats across the lake. We stayed 2 nights, but really 1 night is enough as this place is overpriced for sure (200 Euro p/night - high season). The Japanse meals are Ok but compared to more authentic Ryokans...

An Onsen hotel located near Lake Ashi, few mins walk from the main station of Sengendai; a station hosting the cable car and pirate ferry. Hotel is clean, staff are polite and speak english. they serve decent dinner and breakfast, and the bath area and open air onsen are clean. Room is spacious and clean, well equipped with the necessaries....

Location of the hotel is fantastic, near Lake Ashi. Bus stop and the boat jetty are nearby, only walking distance. Hotel is quiet and comfortable with indoor and outdoor hot-spring with a sauna room. As we have other places to visit, only manage to stay one night, how we could stay longer.

Unless you are want shops and restaurants nearby, this is the place to stay while in Hakone because apart from the Todengai bus station, there isn't much around. The bus station is also where you can board the Lake Ashi sightseeing cruise and ride on the Hakone Ropeway (check to see if it is operational because it may be closed/suspended...
