It was a wonderful 1 night trip tom Tokyo. Went by car, about 2 hours easy, relaxing drive. The hotel has car park, safety box at reception area, yukata (for room and bath use). Amenities by Pola cosmetics brand, very nice. Room slipper and hotel ground slipper. An own sock might be nice if you don't like the sticky feel.

There is bath tub in room also although the onsen is far more wonderful experience. Locker within, hair dryer, water for drink. Basket is available in room for bathing purpose, where change and other stuff can be put in. The whole basket can be locked inside provided locker in bathing area. A code to unlock entrance door will be provided upon check in.

Dinner (1 hour) and breakfast (50 minutes) were fabulous and plenty of choices. There is time limit and I suppose to discourage chatting during meal time. A can of drink is presented after finishing dinner. A bento palate is provided to some takeout if needed.

There is a gift shop area at lobby too.
(Will post photos later.)

This property has seen better days. It’s circa 1980 and is very dated, but it is very clean. Very few of the staff speak English, but they’re friendly. The room was huge, but the furniture is old and beat up and the linens need a serious upgrade. Some of the pillows are stuffed with buckwheat shells – really?!!?! And the beds are as hard as rocks. Carpeting in the hallways is faded and fraying. The first night’s plated dinner was quite good, and the second night’s buffet was also very good with lots of choices. Breakfast was also good and had many choices. It’s not really close to anything, so you need some sort of transportation to get anywhere. But it is really a resort-type area, so the location is fine for that. The Onsens (mineral baths) were really nice – and why you go there. We'd probably go back if we were in the area.

We were here in late October and I could have stayed forever. Rooms are large. There is a wonderful lobby with a small shop. The onsen is very popular and the restaurant (buffet) is wonderful and large.

This hotel is in need of renovations. We did have enjoyable stay. Kimonos provided and encouraged to wear all times. Hot Onsen baths available with changing area, lockers, shower and cleanup area. Buffet dining to experience all the tastes of Japan. Very clean just not top notch!

With people, being old and tired is something to be respected. In hotels, it is not. This place was probably state of the art in the 1970's when it was built but its clear nothing has been done to update things since the inception. It's worn out and needs a remodeling. While Hakone is a wonderful Japanese city, not to be missed, you should pass on this place as I'm sure there are more satisfying choices. The food in the buffet seems to be the exact same menu every day. The staff is enthusiastic but the massage attendant sent to my room by the hotel reaped so heavily of tobacco that I needed a shower when she was done. Come to Hakone but pass on this place.

Just 1 min walk for Senkyoro-mae bus station or about 1.5 to 2 hours from Shinjuku. It is a very local style Onsen hotel. Most of the guest we saw were locals and I think the tourist part does not exceed 10% of the occupants. You will need to travel to most of the attractions nearby by bus / sightseeing bus so it is better to buy a Hakone day pass. The room rate was very reasonable (about Yen10k per head) that include breakfast and dinner buffet. The food is not at the high class range but all fresh and local. Portion is being served on small plates / bowls for each types of food so you have a good chance to try most of the varieties. There was a lady waitress trainee working in the restaurant who had been very helpful and always carry a sweet smile even during the busiest moments at the restaurant.... definitely one of the highlights.

There may be some difficulties to communicate with their other hotel staffs but with some help of body language and writings we managed to get through.

We spent 2 nights there. Although I didn't try the Onsen as there were a big group using it at the time, my friend did say it is good.

Came to Hakone to see the Shrine and the Glass Museum, both very good. The Glass Museum is walking distance from the hotel, the Shrine required a taxi.

The hotel was very good, very clean, all staff were very friendly. There are also good facilities. Very large bedrooms, but small & dated bathrooms.

This old hotel has two buildings. I was in the old building. My room was very large (american standard), had great wifi, was very quiet and great water pressure. The breakfast Buffett was great and the onsen was used by everyone and was free. The hotel provided Yukata (bathing robes) and slippers so all guests can use the hot spring bath. The clientele was on the older side. For children there is an arcade room and a game room. The front desk was very helpful although not so much English spoken but enough to get by. What this hotel did not have was a bed that was soft, (one mattress not two), the furniture is dated, the TV only had Japanese stations and it resides in an area that is not very populated so not a lot of restaurants around although some. Did I enjoy my stay here? YES. Would I have preferred a nicer bed and better TV channels, YES. Would I return to this hotel if I came again— if the price was right, YES.

We were put here on our trip with Oversea Adventure Travels so we didn't have any choice in location. It's not close to anything worth seeing in Hakone; a good 30 minutes to the lake. Its walking distance to an unremarkable botanical garden and the ever present 7/11 stores. Keep looking for better. The hot springs were nice. The hotel is in serious need for renovation.

I had stayed at another hotel on a previous trip and preferred that location for it's proximity to nature. However, this facility had a lot to offer. The dining room was quite good but had definite assigned times for our group. There is a decent gift shop in the lobby. One must experience the Japanese style baths. Having been with a group, I', not certain about prices.

Are people with tattoo's allowed to use the public onsen?

You can use it, but tatoos are not popular in Japanese culture as they as seen as 'gang / criminal related', like the Triads in China.

We didn't go to that museum but this hotel is not centrally located. If you don't have your own transportation, getting a taxi shouldn't be a problem.
