We came in the heavy and everything was covered in snow. The staff were nice enough, though they spoke limited English. We didn’t mind, just a little confusing. Food in the restaurants were nice, too.

The room was surprisingly large. They even set up 1 baby cot for EACH room we booked when we have only 1 kid. The heat central worked a bit too well that we felt hot when it snowed outside.

Overall, we enjoyed staying here.

The location was excellent as it was located next to Lake Ashi. The room was spacious.

But the AC did not work (or not available). So, the room was hot and I had to resort to open the window to cool down the room. This was the only complaint I have.

The restaurant served French cuisine. My meals were included in my organized trip so I would imagine the place would be expensive.

Between 5-6pm, the hotel served one free drink to its customers. But the drinks were rather weak( too diluted); it was free.

I was looking for a place to stay where I could relax and be surrounded by nature.
I had a superior twin room on 4th floor with great views of the lake, and one morning could see Mt Fuji far in the distance. The view changes by the minute, depending on the weather. It is captivating, I could have watched the view all day.
Another nice thing is that there is a window, so i was able to let the fresh air in, turn off the air con, and enjoy the sounds of birds. Since the weather was cooler, the room temperature was just right inside without any air conditioner.
The hot springs were great, very relaxing.
Easy access from Hakone Yumoto station (takes about 40 minutes), but the views on the way are beautiful.
The room did have an 80’s vibe, but the room was clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable and I would happily stay again.

The staffs speaks very limit English and not helpful especially the staffs in restaurant both dinning restaurant and breakfast restaurant, the staffs did not want to take my order. The price is not too expensive but the food quality is not suitable with the price, we paid for ¥35,000 for 6 people, I think we could find more delicious with half price. The food selection is very few.

The room is a bit dated, bathroom is not clean ( it is not passed Tokyo hotel standard, even 2-star hotels in Tokyo have a better bathroom)

The lake view is so so. If this hotel doesn’t have a lake view, It is 2-star hotel.

We stayed at the Hakone Hotel as part of a tour group. We had a spacious twin room with a view over the garden and part of Lake Ashi. The room spotlessly clean and was very comfortable. We had a comfortable chair and a comfortable 2 seater couch as well as comfortable beds. In the morning we had a beautiful clear view of Mt Fuji from the grounds of the hotel. We had a delicious included dinner at the hotel as well as a good buffet breakfast. There was a capsule coffee/tea maker in the room that I tried with Earl Grey Tea which was a bit strong for my taste.

Good Point :
The property has a great view of Lake Ashi and it provided a sense of calm and serene both day and night, especially during the winter season as there were not many tourists. It's located right next to the piers for lake tour boat trips, thus very convenient.

Bad Point :
The property is really old and didn't look attractive at all, its facilities and furniture were aged and dated, totally not worth its rate which was even higher than modern hotels in town.

This is a modern resort hotel set on shore of Lake Ashi in the shadow of Mount Fuji. It's a few hundred yards walk from the pirate ship lake ferry. The rooms are large with two double sized comfortable beds. The bath/shower is good, the Wi-Fi is very good and the room was very quiet at night. We didn't try the onsen, but friends that did thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The hotel has a nice spacious bar area which leads on to a lakeside patio. Both the evening meal and breakfast were very good. Unfortunately the weather was against us during our stay but we are sure the patio is a lovely place to spend your time during the summer months.

The location and the view from the room are fantastic. The lunch and dinner that served in the Resturant were both delicious and tasty.
The buffet breakfast was really disappointing!
It was indeed very mediocre compared to their amazing lunch and dinner. The staff can be more friendly, however, their English language is limited and that is common in Japan. I will definitely stay in this hotel again but will have breakfast somewhere else.
The spa is very clean and enjoyable.
You need to either take taxi or use the buss from Odawara to get to this hotel. I highly recommend to use the taxi although it is much more expensive.

We are booking in 2 x twin room top floor (recently renovated). Room was spacious, with direct view to lake ashinoko and moutn fuji of the weather is clear. Complete with bath tub and Japanese style toilet system, amenities by KOSE. My only dissatisfied if breakfast selection… only omlet menu for ala carte main dish, with some standard salad, bread, drinks (coffee, tea, etc) and others, with this kind of hotel they should provide more, for me breakfast is down grade compare to room and the hotel it self (rate, location) . Close to hakone machiko is easy access to hakone pirates ship or buss station.

Right next to lake Ashi the hotel boasts very good views and location. The food we had was very good but we were part of a coach trip so the menu was tailored to us. The breakfast was however a delightful surprise as it was better than expected. The staff were as always for Japan very pleasant and accommodating. The morning presented us with great pictures of Lake Ashi with Mount Fuji in the background.

Sorry for delay in replying, we're just back from holiday. Unfortunately I don't know about transport from the Hakone hotel. We arrived by 'Pirate ship' & left by the coach our tour was using. Rooms were well equipped & there was an 'Onsen' (hot spring) for guests to use.
