Only stayed one night. Our room faced the sea and had a private onsen which was lovely. Room was ok but was dark and bed mattresses were directly on the floor, little challenging for the older guest to get up in the morning! No tea or coffee in room, this was only available in the lobby. Breakfast was a buffet style with a good selection of both western and eastern food. Very few restaurants in the area around the hotel.
Great reception, service and meals. Private onsen in the room. Short walk to the tram or bus. A nice, relaxing stay with my wife and three months young daughter. Recommended for family, couple or individual vacations.
This hotel was recommended by our travel agency in China, we believe they did a great job on finding us the best hotel in Hakodate. 10 mins ride from JR station, we were welcomed with bubles in a lounge. The girl did our check in was super sweet though her English was very basic. Room was big but simple, traditional JP style, individual air conditioner very new and silent. Good shower facilities and amenities, high quality linens. No bottled water but there is a coffee machine in the lobby, and vending machine too, plus a 7-11 across the street. We had breakfast and dinner in two days, great food as well. However the selections were almost the same in those meals, and lack of greeny... we were told to wear the JP style cloth and clog... first time in my life having dinner in a hotel restaurant with slipper... interesting experience but we respect the local culture. Design in the Spa area was really good, separated male and female on two floors. Lighting in the female one was bit too dim my wife felt somewhat scared since no service staff available at spa entrance. The best hotel we stayed throughout our Hokkaido trip, great place to experience local culture, definitely recommended.…
We arrived at the hotel at 1400 and waited until 1500 but no one was serving us the welcome drink or check in. People who arrived later than us all got welcome drinks and earlier check in than us. If I did not ask the staff twice, they wouldn’t notice that they have forgotten us entirely. This is the worst experience I have ever had among my 150+ hotel stays per year.
My flight got cancelled due to Typhoon Trami. So i actually arrived on the check-out day… The hotel offered me to pay the difference without any no-show penalty to stay here. Staff are very kind. The hotel offers sit-down check-in and welcome sparkling wine. They also walked me to the room. Overall service experience is at the similar level as the world top 5-star hotels (maybe it is more common in Japan). The included buffet dinner and breakfast are surprisingly good, although the sashimi is not best I ever had (grilled crab is awesome). For the price paid, I think it is well worth it. The transportation to JR station and Hakodate Airport is pretty convienient. The Bus station is right outside the hotel. Acceptable buy less convienient to Goryokaku park. You can see Honshu本州 from the outdoor public onsen, which I personally think it is very cool. The hotel works with a travel agent for a night-view trip on the Hakodate Mnt for 1700 yen (Cable car included, but mine got cancelled due to typhoon). …
