Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an amazing time in this great Ryokan! The staff is great, the food is delicious and hot tubs super/very clean. We spent 2 weeks in Japan and our 4-night at Yokikan offered calm, relaxing and reinvigorating time in this traditional Japanese hotel, perfect for the family. Ito is also a beautiful city to visit. The hotel owners (husband and wife) are amazing and the staff too. We will go back for sure.... See attached a nice picture from an hiking activity to Mount Omuro we did during our stay.... beautiful!

Authentic Japanese ryokan experience. Limited English among the staff, only the owners and a general manager speak English, but it did not hinder our experience at all and the service was super friendly. We loved the vintage cable car that takes you up to the rooftop onsen bath, which has an amazing view of tranquil Ito. The gender-specific baths are nice as well, with many amenities such as multiple lotions and foot massagers provided. If you can, order the package with meal(s), we considered these the most authentic Japanese meals we had during our 3-week, 5-city voyage across Japan. Lots of fish. During our checkout, the general manager was also nice enough to shuttle us to the train station, which is otherwise a 15 minute walk. Overall, we really loved our experience and would definitely recommend for those looking for an authentic, relaxing, and hospitable experience.

We stayed for one night at this beautiful ryokan, which has preserved the ambiance of a traditional ryokan. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The outdoor onsen, with its stunning view, offered an unforgettable experience.

Friendliest, warmest and increeibly authentic experience. The open air onsen in particular is amazingly with an amazing equally amazing view. The staff are incredibly helpful, welcoming and are the true definition of hospitality. 10/10 would recommend to everyone.

It was my groups first time at a Ryokan and after a week of packed days Yokikan was perfect for relaxing and calming down. The food was delicious and the room beautiful and clean. We really appreciated the hospitality of all the staff and felt totally taken care of. I particularly loved the open air onsen which has a waterfall that provides a relaxing background soundtrack. My friends utilized the in room private rock hot water bath greatly. I’d love to stay there again, it was perfect.

Strongly Recommend the Place! The place was antique yet charming and clean. All staffs were super nice and helpful. The onsen water felt very silky and healing! A great get away place for relaxation. It was a bit hard to travel to Ito from Tokyo as a foreigner but I'm willing to revisit the place!

Coolest outdoor bath with a view of the whole town, great food served in the room. The owners were very kind, speak good English and gave great suggestions on what to do in the area. We couldn’t see the stars in the bath but it was also really cool and refreshing to have slight rain falling as we took the bath. Would recommend!

We really enjoyed the view of the onsen. Beautiful open-air hot spring that overlooks the entire city and view to the sea. The interior is traditionally decorated and also nice. Food is served in the room at breakfast and dinner and was fairly good.

We had a perfect stay at Yokikan. We chose one of the "special" rooms on the upper floor, and we loved getting to have so much space to stretch out as well as a wonderful view from our window. It was also fun and charming to ride the little funicular elevator between floors! We picked the standard meal plan, which was anything but standard - a wonderful variety of dishes, clearly prepared with care and skill. The staff were all polite, friendly, and helpful. We speak Japanese, but many of the staff were comfortable in English as well. The ryokan is a little over ten minutes walk from Ito station. We were easily able to walk to the main sightseeing attractions of Ito.

I enjoyed my stay at Yokikan in early December. It is a traditional inn with a long history and the rotenburo (open air bath) that overlooks the city is one of the best I have come across. You get a great view and the garden around the pool is well sculpted. The staff are friendly and gave me a lift to the station when I left. I would stay with them again when I visit Ito.
