Karasawa is really a great place with a wonderful traditional charm. The rooms are wide and comfortable, and the indoor onsen nice to dip in after a day of walking (or bicycling on the house's bicycles. The host is most hospitable and very friendly. Absolutely recommendable!

We stayed in this charming Ryokan with my wife for a couple of days. The guest were really kind and picked up us at the train station, which helped a lot. The bedrooms are clean and spacious. We loved very much the traditional Japanese style of the bedroom and the beautiful garden just outside of our room. The sento are completely new and clean, we had a nice time resting there. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cosy atmosphere !!

Cost benefit beyond expectation. The ryokan, offers excellent room with futon and view of a Japanese garden, has bath room with hot tub, bicycle for good price and friendly service. the location is average, by the proximity of a big avenue and not so close to the attractions of the city, what a bike and transfer to the train station or to enjoy the sunset on the beach, offered by the attentive hosts, gratitude. Highly recommend the authentic experience in Japan.

Perhaps a few years ago, but not now. Seriously showing it age. Both the japanese rooms and especially the western rooms need a substantial upgrade. The breakfast is basic .....so avoid. The only possible reason you might want to stay here is that it is close to the freeway , if you are flying out of Komatsu airport.

It was amazeing! The three nights we spent there were great. The Japanese-style room with view to the beautful garden was great. What made it so special? The inn-keepers. Deliciouse japanese breakfast for only 900 yen and great support for the planning of our stay!
We wanted to see the Noto-peninsula with the Senmaida-rice-terraces and had no clue how to get there. So the in keeper and his nephew Seyge offered us a private tour in their car... as if this were not enough, he showed us more than we hoped for... but see for yourself! Go to this beautiful, family-run ryokan! And for heavens sake, stay more than one night! It is worth it!

Shuji and family were very kind and helpful during our short stay! Arranged pick up from the station and they also woke up early to drop us off the next morning. Very informative with access to and from their place (also have bicycles to rent) as well as recommended restaurants nearby. The inn was a bit dated but quirky and delightful. Wifi and aircon worked great and there was a lovely little garden view. Overall a great stay at a local place!

Although the hotel is a little distant from the main tourist attractions, the really helpful and kind hotel staff provided us with easy-to-follow directions for using the buses which run between the hotel and the downtown and tourist areas. Thus, we were satisfied with the location. In addition, the morning breakfasts were quite good. The common showers were very clean, and we never had to wait for them (we are early risers). If there is one somewhat negative factor, it is that the room was a little shabby, in particular the bathroom containing the sink and toilet, and some of the hallways were a bit shabby, too. A little renovation could make a big difference in overall effect. But, overall, we were quite pleased that we chose this hotel.

The hotel has both types of rooms but we chose one of the Japanese style (with futons) as they look out onto the lovely Japanese garden at the back - an entrancing morning greeting - so can't comment on the Western-style rooms. The family are so welcoming; the owner (Shuji-san?) will collect and return you to the railway station, which is a couple of miles away, if requested, he speaks good English and his wife prepares the most amazing Japanese breakfasts we have ever seen; impressively, she took great care to ensure that what she served for me was gluten-free - rare in Japan - while my wife was able to partake of the true Japanese fare. Western-style breakfast is available - you can choose on the previous day - but we always took the Japanese option so can't comment on the Western fare. Special mention must go to their nephew Seigi (I hope I spelled that correctly) and his brothers who having spent their childhood in France with their parents are fluent in French, English and Japanese and were extremely helpful with information about the Kanazawa area. They also run a bar downtown - Furansu (France in Japanese!) - well worth a visit. Finally, the hotel have bicycles for hire (¥500/day), which are very useful as the place is a little way out of town, it's easy cycling as the area is very flat and you can cycle down the nearby riverbank into town if you wish; alternatively, you can catch the bus into town - fare is ¥280 at the time of writing.
