My two night stay at the Kanazawa Sainoniwa Hotel was five starts all around - the hotel staff offered exceptional service, the breakfast featured an impressive breath of local seasonal varieties, the rooms were spacious with artful decorations and comfortable beds and the location was well suited for accessing the train station and major sights in Kanazawa.
I've stayed at a variety of hotels globally, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite hotel worldwide and easily the best hotel experience I've had in Japan. I would highly recommend a stay at the Kanazawa Sainoniwa Hotel and look forward to my return trip in the near future.

Forgot how many times I have stayed here; but probably the first time during weekends. Given its popular breakfast, this is no wonder!
Our standard twin room on the 2/F was smaller than expected (larger rooms are reserved for families during weekends). It was also not quite sound-proof as we heard stumping noises from above (probably kids running around?). Much prefer rooms on 4/F.
Breakfast is of course consistently delicious. Also appreciate their thoughtfulness, continuing to add innovative and fun facilities and amenities for guests. We particularly enjoyed the new "Letter Corner" and the adjacent "Kids Corner".
Glad to see service and cleanliness remains high standard, thank you for your kindness and hospitality! Will surely return in the future.

Design of the hotel is chic. Staff were hospitable, professional & attentive.
The rooms were bigger than the usual & they were clean. The room has a mini lounge area to sit & relax. Tea, coffee, kettle, tea cups, coffee cups & spoons were provided.
In the bathroom, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, toothbrush set, razor, hairbrush, cotton & etc were provided. Essentially, it has every toiletry available.
The hotel has multi function corners on each level; water, ice, ironing board. The 1st floor has a washer & dryer. It has a lounge area in different parts of the hotel for hotel guests to sit around.
The breakfast is totally stunning! Daily, there are local food served in very presentable styles that made eating them enjoyable.
I also noticed that there is a kids’ corner & that is certainly a saving grace for parents who bring their children along.
The hotel also provides shuttle service to Kanazawa station where you can have meals & do shopping.
Overall, I’m very pleased with my 4-day 3-nights stay at this hotel.

On a recommendation of a friend, I stayed one night at Sainoniwa Hotel. The hotel experience was exceptional and one of my best hotel stays in Japan. The room was spacious, clean and well-designed with a modern Japanese style and displayed artwork. I immediately felt relaxed and peaceful when I entered the room. I'm a foodie and loved the breakfast which included local Kanazawa food items and creative dishes. It was ranked #2 best breakfasts in Japan but I'm not sure how you can get better?! The service was 5 star. For example, the hotel staff would greet you outside and accompany us to the front desk and room. I had an opportunity to meet the General Manager and I was impressed with his English skills and and warm hospitality. I would definitely return and recommend this hotel to my company, family and friends. As we departed, we saw a rainbow over the hotel.

It is recommended to spend a relaxing time in Kanazawa on winter because there are fewer tourists.

This was our 3rd time to stay in Kanazawa. We love the hotel because of a buffet style breakfast, a public bath and arts are displayed every floor. The breakfast offers varieties of Japanese and western choices, and they are very delicious. We love a big bath and I understand you may not want to share the bath with totally naked strangers, but if you love Onsen, you must enjoy it. The hotel staff are attentive and kind. One negative thing is a location. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus between the hotel and Kanazawa station, but it does not run every 5 minutes so you may find this annoying. You need to get to the station, otherwise nothing around the hotel. Of course you can get a taxi to the station and it is not expensive.

Simply loved this hotel - easily our favourite in Japan.
Very friendly and helpful staff and everything is spotless, efficient and comfortable. Spacious rooms too. The hotel is situated a little away from the town centre but the hotel’s shuttle service is regular and reliable.
Breakfast is superb - macaron with ice cream for breakfast? Well why not, you’re on your holiday! Great choice and high quality.
We also loved Kanazawa - both gardens near the castle are idyllic and we ate well.

This hotel is a gem, modern but infused with Japanese ambience of beauty and serenity. The rooms are very large for Japanese standards, luxuriously appointed with toiletries and comforts, and very quiet. The grounds are small, but everywhere you turn there is a lovely garden, courtyard, or reading nook. There is a great public bath from thermal springs. The staff are delightful. And on this my third trip to Japan i have to say this was the best breakfast EVER. The shuttle is extremely convenient and rubs frequently. One warning: no shuttle during lunch hours.

By far, our best hotel stay in Japan. Kanazawa Sainoniwa Hotel is a beautiful stay with first class rooms (twin separate deluxe included a tatami space separated from sleeping area), surrounded by garden areas, and original works of art throughout including outside of each room. Service was excellent from the staff at reception, the shuttle drivers and efficient breakfast crew. Nice to have the public bath, massage chairs and free popsicles after. Breakfast was the most impressive spread. Some sites rate this a 3-star hotel, but they have it completely wrong. Looking forward to coming back!

The hotel is very welcoming, the staff are friendly and wish to assist in anything! It's very clean and the breakfast is excelent (western and japanese). A lot of items and services are free of charge: self parking, small ice cream at the spa, coffee at the lounge, self laundry and drying machines, newspapers, iron etc.
We have been at thousands of hotels all over the world, even a lot expensive than Sainoniwa, but the service and our feeling is this one desreves the 1st place!!!

Great hotel. Not plush but very good and well equipped room. It is a little out of the way but there is a very good shuttle bus service to the station. The onsen was a delight and they even had mini ice creams for afterwards. So many details considered. Ice machine and extra pillows/blankets available. Great breakfast with too many choices for western and Japanese travellers alike. No restaurant but they offered a good take away service, bringing the food to your door and collecting the dirty plates afterwards.

Most Japanese hotels have check in time of 2:00PM and check-out time of 11:00am. Their website may have the exact timings. Also they will try to accommodate you if you let them know in advance. However, in Japan everybody follows rules and their is little discretion followed.
